the airbag light stays on in my 2000 chevy impala ls. no accident or crash.
I have the same issue (which comes and goes often).
It is caused by a loose wire connection, used for the drivers side airbag located in the seat.. The connector for mine is located under the front drivers seat. There are a couple of connectors that are connected to a bar under the front of the seat. I don't recall which one is used for the Airbag sensor.

My odometer is no longer visible, nor are the "R N D..." lights that let me know what is going on with my transmission. The rest of the dash lights are fine.
They quit working recently (3 weeks ago), and I've only seen them illuminate one time since they quit working (2 weeks ago). When they were briefly illuminated 2 weeks ago, they were only on while the key was turned in the ignition prior to actually firing up the engine.
Should I suspect a burnt fuse or bulb? Which fuse (the manual seemed unclear to me on this)? How do I get to the bulb? what should my first step be?
Thanks,
- New Daddy
I own a 2000 impala ls and encountered the same problem. My solution to my problem was buy a new light switch and it worked. The circuits on the old one seemed to be burned so thats why they would come on sometimes. To install the new switch you need to remove the faceplate on the dash board and behind it you will find two screws holding it in place remove the screws and unplug the switch and replace.

2000 chevy impala passlock problems car won't start is there a way to by pass or reset the passlock system?
Your Passlock may need to relearn the ignition keys, if the
ignition lock has gone bad like my in-laws Grand Am Gt, here is what i
did so they will not get stranded any more. Buy a Passlock by pass
module for around $70.00. You can order one from GMPASSLOCK.COM in the
mean time try resetting the Passlock. Good luck
Ignition keys relearn takes about 30 min to do. 30-Minute Learn Procedure
1.) Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
2.) Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON; the vehicle will not start.
3.) Observe the SECURITY tell tale light. After approximately 10 minutes, the light will turn OFF.
4.) Turn OFF the ignition switch, and wait 5 seconds.
5.) Repeat steps 1 through 4 - two more times - for a total of 3 cycles of 10 minutes. 3x10 = 30 minutes.
The vehicle is now ready to relearn the Passlock
Sensor Data Code and/or passwords on the next ignition switch turn from
OFF to CRANK Important: Turn the Ignition Switch OFF. The vehicle
learns the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password on the
next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK. You must turn the
ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle.
6.) Start the engine. The vehicle has now learned the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password.
7.) With a scan tool, clear any DTCs if needed. History DTCs will self clear after 100 ignition cycles.
Without a scan tool you may have momentary starter interruptions while history clears itself.

AC Compressor not engaging on 2000 Chevy Impala. Fuses and AC relay okay. No power at compressor. Need wiring diagram. Also need to know if compressor requires 12v for operation. If not what should voltage read?
When your R-134a runs too low it will NOT engage the compressor. You need to refill your a/c system before the clutch will engage, I also suggest finding the leak.

having issues with a 2000 chevy impala overheating have changed the radiator and the thermostat fans seem to be working ok but overheats at idle in stop and go traffic, after a certain amount of time it just overheats period? any ideas
YOU NEED BLEED COOLANT SYSTEM.CHECK COOLANT LEVEL IN RADIATOR.ADD MORE DEXCOOL UNTIL COOLANT LEVEL IS CLOSE TO RADIATOR SPOUT.CRANK ENGINE LET IDLE UNTIL TOP RADIATOR HOSE GET HOT.WATCH TEMPERATURE GAUGE.IF TEMPERATURE GAUGE START RISING TO HOT ZONE.TURN OFF ENGINE.LET COOL DOWN.USE LARGE RAG SLOWLY OPEN RADIATOR CAP A LITTLE AT A TIME UNTIL ALL PRESSURE RELIEVED.REMOVE RADIATOR CAP.ADD MORE COOLANT.CRANK CAR AGAIN LET IDLE UNTIL TOP RADIATOR GET HOT.KEEP EYE ON TEMP.GAUGE ALSO.WHEN TEMP.GAUGE STOP CLIMBING.YOUR COOLANT SYSTEM BLED.WHEN DONE LET CAR SET A WHILE CHECK COOLANT LEVEL.ALSO FIRST THING IN THE MORNING CHECK COOLANT LEVEL AGAIN.AND BESURE ADD COOLANT IN THE OVERFLOW JUG TO THE COLD MARK.DONT OVER FILL THE COOLANT RESERVOIR JUG.WORK SAFELY DONT GET SCALDED.

My 2000 Chevy Impala has been leaking small amounts of coolant. After investigating for days, I noticed a small hose bent down 90 degrees coming from the firewall. It looks like the A/C drain hose. Why is coolant leaking from this hose?
It sounds like you're looking at the heater core water lines. These connect to the heater core supply and return inlet and outlet pipes to bring hot coolant into the cabin for heat and windshield deicing.
The heater core is a mini radiator and operates on the exact same principles as the radiator does. The heater core is located behind the dash board on the passenger side. Look for a wet spot of antifreeze on the passenger side floor area - close to the firewall for an indication of a leaky heater core. If it is leaking, it will likely need to be replaced. This can be a pricey repair.
Good luck!

locate low pressure line
the low pressure recharge is the black plug located on the left side of the break against the firewall under the hood.
