1997 Oldsmobile Aurora - Page 9 Questions & Answers
Do you have to use premium gas in the 1997 aurora
You can use regular fuel. The ignition system on your vehicle is controlled by the computer which will ****** the timing if low octane fuel would cause spark knock, also called pinging. Even high compression late model cars can run on regular fuel because of the computerized knock sensors. I doubt that you'll notice any difference in driveability or performance on regular fuel.
The locking ring on top
the lock ring is available, have seen them from your local parts houses.if the lock ring is
rusted that bad make sure the metal lines for fuel pump are not bad.
why are you replacing is it leaking not sure how you would no without removing tank.
good idea to also replace large o'ring under lock ring(also available @ part house.

97 Aurora, nothing on dash
you need to check the I/P fuse in the rear fuse relay center under the rear seat, after checking the fuse get back with me ....thanks
How tough is it to replace aircondition
you need to remove the coolant surge tank, intake tube and box, move the ECU out of the way, remove the headlights for access to the radiator bolts, remove the radiator fan and the radiator, remove the serpentine belt and passenger side wheel and splash shield-remove the front air dam, then unbolt the low and high pressure hoses from the ac compressor, then remove the compressor-it is easily a 3 hour job taking it out and putting it back in.
I have an 1997 Oldsmobile
First check the blower motor resistor for burnt or melted wires or connector. It should be down at bottom of heater box towards center right. It will have two sets of wires going to it and i think maybe only two screws that hold it in place usally this wires get hot and loose connection. If its good then the only other thing it could be is the switch.Oh, have you checked the fan relay also?
We bought the car today
It could be corrosion on the battery terminals. Otherwise, you sometimes can't get a car with a dead cell in the batty to jump start at all. I would call the seller and politely ask their advice.
Treat them with respect, and they will probably be very helpful. Don't start accusing them of things. That just never ever helps.
Where isthe fan sensor located
If you are talking about the inside temperature sensors, they are mounted to the covers under the dash panel...just above your feet.
How can I get to
It is a flex plate (automatic) and you can tighten bolts by removing the trans, not easy to do since it is a front wheel driver
Went into about a foot
if it is not too late, do NOT start it again-remove the plugs (all of them, it is a pain but it might save your engine) and remove the relay for the fuel pump-turn the car over, quickly just 2 or 3 seconds at a time, about 4 or 5 times. This will force water out of the plug area and the tops of the cylinders. DRAIN THE OIL AND REMOVE THE FILTER, use a turkey baster and put a SMALL AMOUNT of oil (a teaspoon full at most) in each cylinder, then fill the crank case with 6 quarts of fresh oil and a new filter. Install the plugs (if the look worn, good time to replace them) and start it up-you might have to replace the oil again if it looks AT ALL MILKY after running for a few minutes. If it is still making a loud banging noise, you had what is known as 'hydrolock' in one or more cylinders and it is probable that a piston or pistons are damaged and the engine is blown.
Hi, my 97 aurora has
the only solution is to replace the sender unit, they are notorious for being wildly inaccurate as they get older-some people have had success putting technitrol fuel system cleaner in when the tank is low on fuel, as it can clean off the years of accumulated buildup on the sensor. I have a 2000 Intrigue and a 2001 Aurora, and both are sometimes not accurate (especially the Intrigue) and have researched it, it is a known issue with Oldsmobiles. I use my trip meter to determine when to put gas in, never let it go past 250 miles without a fillup.
