ETS systems get their information from the wheel speed sensors. If the engine light and ETS lights are on, there are trouble code stored in the computer. Get those read. That's always the starting point.

Carry it to the GM dealer! By the time you get through throwing parts at it you will have burnt up the difference in letting them fix it versus DIY.

Best bet is to try to get it to turn again. Once in the on position, the is a slot , use a small pin/paperclip in it and push down the release button. Pull the ignition out. Replace it a do a relearn. Other wise, drill it out until you can turn it to the run position. Relearn is, turn the key on for ten minutes, off for thirty seconds. Do this three times, then start after the third time. Have a battery charger on it. Battery goes low or it you engaged the starter at any time, you have to start over.

Not all readers are created equal. It all has to do with how they interface with the on board computer system, it is called "protocol" Make sure you get a reader that is listed as being able to read 1997 GM system fault codes. You can also go to any Autozone and have them read your codes.

The low side service port is located on the low pressure line coming off the back of the compressor. Its not easy to see or get to.

Replace the wiper motor. It has the module built in. the module is shorted out.

Should be on the transmission at the end of the shifter cable on the top of the transmission.

Maybe have a fuel pressure test done sounds like the fuel pump may be going.

check pcm fuse

Using special tool on loan from parts store, release tensioner and remove belt. Same to install new belt, making sure it is lined up correctly on all pulleys.

Drain the Radiator, Disconnect the Upper and Lower Radiator Hose, Disconnect the Transmission Lines, remove the Upper cover, Disconnect the Electrical Fans and then remove the 6 bolts and pull up.
