Ballast resistor or resistance wire, when you start your engine it starts on 12v but it runs on 9v

Your vehicle's speedometer has what is called a stepper motor. It is powered by the signal it recieves from the speed sensor located on the transmission. Over time these have been known to go bad, and exhibit behavior like you're describing. You can either find a replacement stepper motor and solder it in, or go to your local salvage yard and get a replacement dash cluster.

check if you have sufficient spark and fuel going to the engine

ignition module maybe the problem here,if it starts and as soon as you release the key,then it shuts off.

check the speedo cable?

does the check eng. light come on?

out of timing belt

do you have a "SECURITY" light blinking on the dash?

depending on motor it will have 2 or 3. most newer gm products have long bolts that go in from the side of the alternator and bolt it directly to engine block or cylinder head

remove the clamps holding the hose to the radiator and the engine. then remove the hose. Install the new hose. tighten the clamps. add coolant to the radiator and start the engine. Just follow the upper radiator hose to the engine from the radiator, the T-stat is located where the upper hose connects to the engine,, just remove the large nipple the hose connects to, the T-stat is located under that.

"EVAP system flow during NON-PURGE" a problem with the vacuum in the vehicle

id start by checking wires from crank sensor to pcm, using ohm meter, for resistance, or for open. at crank sensor connector, with it unplugged, probe each spade, one at time, with one lead and touch the other lead to good ground location. if you get a reading, you have a short to ground. if this is the case, i find it easier to run new wires from pcm to the sensor, vs tracking problem to its source. if you find no problem w the crank circuit, id first check wiring to coil housing, if it checks ok, try another coil tower, as i have got bad new parts in this same situation, on a quad 4. hope this helps. james white, white automotive, hopkins mo.
