Am not getting spark in my 1991 olds cutlass

have you checked the distributor cap and rotor because the spark has to come from these two things first and should be replaced when they get bad so please make sure when you check the distributor cap that you use a permanant black marker on the side of distributor cap and where it was placed at so you know the same place you took it off. If you take off the distributor cap and it shows the connections inside showing black on them that this is your problem and all distributors get bad because they become worned out by the rotor inside wear. If the distributor and cap are clean or do not have any black stuff on them that it could be the coil that went bad too so its a trouble shotting by looking at first the distributor cap and rotor. If you know how to use a multimeter and have one handy that you can check how much voltages is coming through the spark plug wires.

Unless gas is leaking somewhere all the gas a car uses goes through the injectors. If it uses too much fuel that means the injecters are being kept open too long or it is being burned improperly or engine load is extremely high. Unfortunately it can be a pretty complicate process to figure out what the problem is on a computer controlled car. It taks some rather sophisticated equipment to monitor the engine sensors. Are there any codes stored in the ECM? Is the air filter clean?

Hi Robert,
This sounds like you have a problem in one of these 2 ares: 1. Have the ignition system checked for spark, it may have a faulty ignition module or coil. 2. Have the fuel system checked for pressure and flow, it may have a faulty fuel pump or injector signal.
Let me know if you need more information.
Thanks

Can you tell if the engine is actually turning over? My first thought would be that the bolts holding your starter on the engine have loosened and the starter is not making contact with the flywheel. Another possibility would be that the flywheel has lost some teeth. Safely jack up the car and see first if the starter motor is loose, if not, open the inspection plate under the flywheel and get a visual look at where the starter and flywheel come together. If neither seem to be happening, then the starter itself may need replacing.

Engine stops every 02 tenths

Hi, because the running of a vehicle is complicated, there are many more things that can cause a vehicle to stall. These are the most common things that can cause a car to stall. Other things include wiring, fuses, relays, other sensors not working properly or at all, a bad alternator or a bad battery, or an overheating problem, just to name a few.
Could be the fuel pump. To check for sure take the air cleaner off (or the "neck" that goes to the air cleaner) and spray some carb cleaner or starter fluid in it pointing toward the motor. If it runs for a second that tells you there is a fuel delivery problem. You might want to start by checking the fuse to your fuel pump. Sometimes the obvious can be overlooked.

Once there is no fire to plugs while truing to start the car, you have to check the cranl sensor...
