Dodge dakota backfire
It sounds like you need a good tune-up, such as spark plugs and/or wires. They will act up when cold and when warmed by engine temperature will let the engine run smoothly again. And possibly a distributor cap/rotor.
1992 Dakota No headlights marker lights, tail lights, dash lights
Check these;
Brake lights, backup lights. cabin lights.
None of these are controlled by the light switch which seems to be the problem. You may need a voltmeter to track this down.
A long shot is to check the fusible links under the hood. They are essentially fuses by another name. They are sometimes located in gang boxes and even one of the '+' cables coming off the battery if it has two cables.
How do i replace a broken freeze plug on a 92 dodge dakota 3.9 liter v6 engine?
You need to discover where the leak is coming from first. I have seen engines frozen solid where the core plugs remained intact but instead it pushed the water pump and bent the housing. Being right at the front of the engine and most exposed to the elements I suppose it took the worst of the conditions.
Old British engines used saucer or penny core plugs and they dropped out very easily at the first sign of frost but the dish type in common use now need a lot of force to shift them especially if they are fitted with a hard sealing compound.
It isn't often a core plug will pop out where it is easy to reach because those that are easy to reach are generally the smaller ones and with bigger holes to expand into the ice tends to choose the water pump or the bigger plugs at the back of the block and sometimes cylinder head.
It becomes a different sort of a job when the leak is hard against the bulkhead or behind the flywheel.
I suggest you discover which one and then come back again. Your question could then be about removing the engine or the transmission, though I hope you will be lucky and if it is one you can reach I hope you will realise just how lucky you have been.
Good luck!
Find which fuse is for headlights?
I did a Google search for 1992 Dodge Dakota headlight fuse and this is a bit of what I came up with. There is much more. Hope this helps, if you still need it.
Can i bypass the ac compressor on my 1992 dodge dakota 5.2l with a shorter belt from one without ac
I have a 92 Dakota with a 5.2 (318) 4x4, automatic trans. You can simply remove the ac compressor and go with a belt a bit longer then what stock non AC calls for. The idler pulley is in a slightly different location from AC to no AC engines so just getting the non AC belt won't work. I used a 5070900 / 7PK2285 for mine and it worked fine. Just a touch tight getting on. Next time I'll probably go 1/2 inch longer so a 5070905. I'm a licensed tech with 20 years in the trade in Canada, 4 years of that with a Dodge dealer.
