Shift light flashing no OD Changed Trans ecm/pcm shift hold light button, coil No change. CYL missfire, 2 & 3 Diagnostics code on Trans is u0401 Invalid data received from ecm/pcm/a

Circuit Description Modules that are connected to the shared communication circuits monitor for serial data communications during normal vehicle operation. Operating information and commands are exchanged among the modules. The modules have pre-recorded information about what messages are needed to be exchanged on the serial data circuits for each virtual network. The messages are usually supervised and some periodic messages are used by the receiver module as an availability indication of the transmitter module. DTC U0401 TCM received invalid data from ECM Conditions for Setting the DTC The transmission control module (TCM) detects an invalid throttle position signal, engine speed signal and/or engine coolant temperature signal for more than 2 seconds. Action Taken When the DTC Sets • The TCM will store the DTC when a failure is detected on the first ignition cycle. • The TCM will illuminate the HOLD lamp. • The TCM can no longer determine the validity of any information it may or may not receive from the engine control module (ECM). Therefore the TCM substitutes default values for engine speed, throttle position, and other engine data signals. • Transmission operation will be reduced, affecting shift points, torque converter clutch operation, and other driveability concerns. Diagnostic Aids • An intermittent malfunction may be caused by a fault in the electrical circuit. Inspect the wiring harness and the components for an intermittent condition. Refer to Intermittent Conditions in Engine Controls 1.6L. • Repair any electrical circuit faults that were found. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems. • Faulty ECM and/or TCM Install a scan tool. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. Save the DTC and Freeze Frame information into the scan tool memory. Perform the scan tool Clear DTC Information function for the transmission control module (TCM) and the engine control module (ECM). Operate the vehicle for 1 minute or until the MIL illuminates. Check the TCM for DTCs. Is the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) On? -- YES - Go to Step 2 NO - Repair the wiring connectors for intermittent failure Select request DTC status from the Diagnostic Trouble Codes Information menu Request DTC by status Is DTC U0401 displayed? -- YES - Go to Step 3 NO - Repair the wiring connectors for intermittent failure 3 Turn OFF the ignition. Disconnect connector A from the TCM. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF. Measure the resistance between terminal A17 of the TCM wiring connector and terminal K14 of the ECM wiring connector. Measure the resistance between terminal A7 of the TCM wiring connector and terminal K15 of the ECM wiring connector. Was the resistance the specified value for both circuits? 0 ohms YES - Go to Step 5 NO - Go to Step 4

My Chevy Optra does not shut off when I turn the

I had a 2006 Chevy Optra that wouldn't shut off as well. When I opened the door it would turn off but as soon as the door was closed the dash lights would come on dim and kill the battery if left long enough. If i pulled the I/P fuse in the engine compartment fuse box it would solve the problem but it killed the dome light as well. Pulling the cluster fuse or the wiper fuse from the i/p fuse box had the same effect....it was a real stumper as alldata had no listing for a 2006 Chevrolet Optra so I couldn't find any wiring schematics at all. I did a bit more research and found that the Suzuki Forenza is the same car. i got a wiring schematic and found out that the dome light module/key-in buzzer is actually in the dome light itself. I unplugged the dome light/module and jumped the orange(batt +) to the pink(ign) that comes directly from the I/P fuse and the car would stay running after i turned the ignition off. I cut the pink wire and installed a diode so that battery voltage couldn't backfeed to the I/P fuse. It's been three days now and every time i turn the ignition off the car shuts off, just like it's supposed to. A faulty dome light module seems to be the problem and a $3 diode fixes it. The people that own the car have spent hundreds of dollars trying to figure this problem out and didn't want to spend another $250 for a module. I hope this helps somebody as it seems to be a popular problem.

Where is coolant system air bleed off for 2010 chevy aveo with ecotech engine

There isn't one. Fill the reservoir, start the engine and run it till the T stat opens. This will start to drain the reservoir. Over fill it by and inch or so. You can take it to a parking lot and run it in circles to purge air or watch the coolant level for the next few days and fill as needed.

The horn dose not sound when button is pushed on steering wheel. Passenger air bag is off, and how can I turn it on to operational mode

As far as the passenger airbag is concerned - OFF may be normal. This is an excerpt from the owner's manual (page 1-67). Passenger Sensing System The vehicle has a passenger sensing system for the right front passenger position. The passenger airbag status indicator will be visible when you start the vehicle. The word OFF or off symbol will be visible near the clock, located in the center of the instrument panel, during the system check. See Passenger Airbag Status Indicator on page 3-27 . When the system check is complete, either the words ON and OFF or the symbol for on and off will be visible under certain conditions. The passenger sensing system will turn off the right front passenger frontal airbag and seat-mounted side impact airbag (if equipped) under certain conditions. The driver airbags are not part of the passenger sensing system. The passenger sensing system works with a sensor that is part of the right front passenger seat. The sensor is designed to detect the presence of a properly-seated occupant and determine if the right front passenger frontal airbag and seat-mounted side impact airbag (if equipped) should be enabled (may inflate) or not. The horn is another matter. There are four possibilities here. I will list them in order of likelihood:
  1. Bad switch in the steering wheel. These are common failure items.
  2. Bad horn relay
  3. Bad horn assembly itself
  4. Faulty wiring in the horn circuit (including fuse)
You can have the switch(es) replaced in the steering wheel, but they are just as likely to fail again. I have had this issue happen in the past, and I simply went to the bottom of the steering column, found the horn button wire, and installed a dashboard mounted horn button. It is legal in most jurisdictions for inspection purposes as long as the button is easily accessible by the driver.
