Truck will not start due to security system
The security icon is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM (Theft Deterrent Module). These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car misinterprets this as an attempt at theft and goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. This is why the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle. This link explains it pretty well.

If the light is flashing it may be an issue with the passlock sensor. Here is a process you can try to reset the passlock. If this process does not work you may need to replace the ignition tumbler and passlock.

1) Put the key in the ignition and turn to the "ON" position. Leave it that way for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes turn the key and take it out. Repeat this process (2) more times (3 times, 30 minutes total) This should reset the PASSKEY system to recognize your key.
My 2001 tahoe battery keeps draining down
If you have a stock radio it may not be powering down completely. Pull the bezel trim off gently all the way around the radio, ac controls and gauges. There will be several 7mm screws holding the radio in. Remove them and slide the radio out but leave it in the dash. Take a standard volt meter set it to volts and with the engine off key out probe the back of the radio for hot wires there should be two of them that are thicker than the others. Set the volt meter so you can see it from the window and hook red probe to one of the wires and ground to the chassis ( seat frame or metal braces in the dash) now close the door and let it sit for 30 minutes. If when you come back and it still reads voltage you have a bad radio module. Repeat with the other wire if the voltage when's to zero. If both went to zero the module is good and you have ruled the radio out as the source for your parasitic drain. Hope this helps.

Truck is only twelve years old. How many miles? I would shop around for a replacement motor, changing the entire motor may be cheaper than rebuilding the old one. Get quotes.
