how to change rear brake pads on 97 park avenue
To change Rear Brake Pads on a 1997 Buick Park Avenue. Remove the bottom bolt on the caliper. The top has a non removable pivot pin. Remove the bolt that holds the brake emergency brake to the frame. Remove the 2 bolts in the rear of the axle plate that hold the caliper in place. (they take a #18 metric socket and you may need a breaker bar to loosen them) With the caliper free from the mount, swing the pad holder up on the top pivot pin and remove the old shoes and replace. Turn the caliper piston clockwise and inboard with a caliper disk brake tool (harbour freight about 19 bucks). Flip the shoe holder part of the caliper back in place and put the assembly back over the rotor. Re install the bolts (blue locktite on the caliper mount bolts and tighten slight snug with breaker bar) retighten the bottom caliper bolt (moderately no locktite)

1. Headlights would not shut off and I didn't have highbeams. Disconnected battery cables to reset. It worked, everything fine. Happened again, everything fine. Next night, nothing...no headlights or tail-lights. I have brake lights and interior lights plus the interior lights will turn on when turning headlight on/off knob clockwise until click. Do you think it is the F-switch? Also, where can I get a schematic of how to install it or a schematic of my dashboard assembly?
It's probably the lighting control module , but without doing some electrical testing that is just a guess !
Battery positive voltage (B+) is applied at all times to the lamp control module (LCM) through the underhood junction block HDLP MaxiFuse® and CKT 1242 (RED).
When you place the headlamp switch in the HEAD position, the headlamps input to the LCM is grounded. The LCM then applies battery positive voltage (B+) through the underhood junction block HDLOBML fuse and HDLOBMR fuse, which feed the left low beam headlamp and the right low beam headlamp respectively. When you activate the headlamp dimmer switch by pulling on the multifunction lever until the switch clicks, CKT 524 (PPL) is grounded to the LCM. The LCM then removes battery positive voltage (B+) from the low beam headlamps and supplies battery positive voltage (B+) through the underhood junction block HDHIBML fuse and HDHIBMR fuse, which feed the left high beam headlamp and the right high beam headlamp respectively.
Twilight Sentinel Circuit Description
Twilight sentinel determines whether the daytime running lamps (DRL), or the exterior lamps and the low beam headlamps at full intensity should be on based upon the signal of the ambient light sensor. When the ambient light sensor detects daytime, the twilight sentinel turns on the DRL. When the ambient light sensor detects darkness, the twilight sentinel turns on the exterior lamps and the low beam headlamps at full intensity. The twilight sentinel also keeps the lamps on for a delay period of 3 to 180 seconds under the following conditions:
• The vehicle is in PARK.
• The ambient light sensor detects darkness.
• The ignition switch is turned to the OFF position.
You may turn off the twilight sentinel manually. When it is dark and the gear selector is in PARK, pushing the twilight sentinel switch to OFF will turn off the headlamps and exterior lamps. Pushing the twilight sentinel switch to OFF again will turn on the headlamps and the exterior lamps. If the gear selector is not in PARK, pushing the twilight sentinel switch will have no effect.
The F- switch is just an input from the LCM - lamp control module .
Do you know how to test control module inputs an outputs ? Very easy to fry a module if you don't know how to do it .
Also have a full scan of all modules on the vehicle , could have DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes stored . Not for the OBD 2 engine computer . The instrument cluster , BCM , LCM can all set codes too, related to lighting an someother thing's .
ECM Inputs and Outputs Diagnosis
Electric Testing Techniques You Need to Know
You can find free wiring diagrams here http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter vehicle info. year , make , model and engine ! Under system click on lighting ,then under subsystem click headlamps . Click the search button then the blue link . The first diagram you will see at the top the power supply to the LCM , down a little you will see the headlamp switch , ambient light sensor . Now if you want to start replacing thing's without testing good luck !

back defrost don't work on 97 buick park avenue
Regarding the repair of the rear window defroster. There is a "electric ACD module" on the inside rear driver side roof sail that connects to the rear defroster and antenna. I had the same problem and found the connector for the defroster had overheated and melted resulting in a failed connection. The NAPA part numbers for the module and replacement connector are 25623688 and 15305949.

Need information on how to take off a serpintine belt on a 1997 Park Avenue
This is the diagram but you should have factory belt diagram sticker is still somewhere under the hood
If not:

To replace the serpentine belt on a V6 3800 you must jack up the motor and remove a motor mount. You must then use a breaker bar with a socket (13/64") and pull it toward the front of the car to release the belt tensioner. Put the new belt on, tighten it, put the mount back on, and lower the jack.
Driving without a belt can cause the motor to overheat, will cut power steering, and will not recharge the battery, so you should probably get a tow
Good Luck

1997 buick park ave 4 door right front door handle won,t work from the outside
Order the exterior door handle AND the clip that attaches the rod to the exterior handle from your local dealership ( any part in the salvage yard will have at least as much wear as the one U are replacing ) Also order a can of touch up paint matching your car. After you have the parts and have painted the new exterior handle, roll down the window and remove the interior door panel. ( instructions have been posted at 'replace door lock buttom' ) Two nuts, one on each side, hold the broken handle in place and must be removed ( DON'T loose them ). Loosen the rod from the clip at the top to allow a bit more room, But take note on the way it is attached ( you will need to reattach the rod to new handle ) To install new mechanism put the new clip on the rod, carefully place the gasket and the new handle in place and install nuts to secure. Test the door handle and make sure it works. Reinstall interior door panel.

I recently bought a used 1997 Buick Park Avenue. When you turn on the car it welcomes the previous driver. I am trying to figure out how to change the name. In addition to this my Buick is equipped with memory seats and mirrors. I am struggling with figuring out how to properly change the memory seats with my settings rather than the setting of the previous owner. If someone would please explain how to do this, I would be extremely grateful. Thanks, Sara
I am not sure about changing the name as my 2000 park ave. only indicates driver one or driver two. To reset the memory for seat/ mirror position is rather simple: with the ignition on and the car in park, adjust your seat and mirrors to the desired position. Then press and hold the desired button (driver one or two) until you hear a beep, This is the procedure that works on my 2000 park ave. I hope this helps you.
