Exterior and interior lights remain on constantly until the battery dies?

I do not know your skill set so I can only suggest some solutions. It sounds like one of the door switches has failed or the wire has shorted to the chassis. Remove them one by one until you find the problem. If that does not find the problem it is more serious, you should take it to the shop.

Automatic door locks won't engage when 97 buick park ave is shifted into drive

Usually, this information is inside the owner's manual. Section 2 page 6 But if you don't have your owner's manual here how to reprogram: Customizing Your Memory Door Locks Feature. You can program the "memory door locks feature" to change to the following modes: Mode Operation: 0. No automatic door lock or unlock. 1. All doors automatically lock when shifted out of PARK (P). No automatic door unlock. 2. All doors automatically lock when shifted out of PARK (P). Only the driver's door automatically unlocks when shifted into PARK (P). 3. All doors automatically lock when shifted out of PARK (P). All doors automatically unlock when shifted into PARK (P). Vehicles are delivered programmed in Mode 3; however, each Remote Keyless Entry transmitter can be programmed to a different mode according to the user's preference. To change modes: 1. Close all doors and turn the ignition on. Keep all doors closed throughout this procedure. 2. Press and hold the power door lock switch on the 4. 3. Press the LOCK button on the Remote Keyless Entry transmitter to enter the programming mode. The memory door lock mode will remain in the current mode. 4. Press the LOCK button on the transmitter again. Each time the transmitter's LOCK button is pressed, the mode will advance by one, going from mode 3 to mode 0 to mode 1, etc. For each press of the LOCK button, the door locks will activate in the same manner they would activate in the corresponding memory door lock mode. For example, pressing the LOCK button on the transmitter to advance to mode 2 would result in all doors locking and then, only the driver's door would unlock. For mode 0, no locking or unlocking will occur. 5. Release the power door lock switch and turn the ignition off. The automatic door locks will remain in the most recent mode selected. Hope it helps.

Twilight sentinel will not work; now headlight and tail lights won't come on; interior lights still work with knob. Do you think it is the F-switch? Also, where can I get a schematic of how to ins

It's probably the lighting control module , but without doing some electrical testing that is just a guess ! Battery positive voltage (B+) is applied at all times to the lamp control module (LCM) through the underhood junction block HDLP MaxiFuse® and CKT 1242 (RED). When you place the headlamp switch in the HEAD position, the headlamps input to the LCM is grounded. The LCM then applies battery positive voltage (B+) through the underhood junction block HDLOBML fuse and HDLOBMR fuse, which feed the left low beam headlamp and the right low beam headlamp respectively. When you activate the headlamp dimmer switch by pulling on the multifunction lever until the switch clicks, CKT 524 (PPL) is grounded to the LCM. The LCM then removes battery positive voltage (B+) from the low beam headlamps and supplies battery positive voltage (B+) through the underhood junction block HDHIBML fuse and HDHIBMR fuse, which feed the left high beam headlamp and the right high beam headlamp respectively. Twilight Sentinel Circuit Description Twilight sentinel determines whether the daytime running lamps (DRL), or the exterior lamps and the low beam headlamps at full intensity should be on based upon the signal of the ambient light sensor. When the ambient light sensor detects daytime, the twilight sentinel turns on the DRL. When the ambient light sensor detects darkness, the twilight sentinel turns on the exterior lamps and the low beam headlamps at full intensity. The twilight sentinel also keeps the lamps on for a delay period of 3 to 180 seconds under the following conditions: • The vehicle is in PARK. • The ambient light sensor detects darkness. • The ignition switch is turned to the OFF position. You may turn off the twilight sentinel manually. When it is dark and the gear selector is in PARK, pushing the twilight sentinel switch to OFF will turn off the headlamps and exterior lamps. Pushing the twilight sentinel switch to OFF again will turn on the headlamps and the exterior lamps. If the gear selector is not in PARK, pushing the twilight sentinel switch will have no effect. The F- switch is just an input from the LCM - lamp control module . Do you know how to test control module inputs an outputs ? Very easy to fry a module if you don't know how to do it . Also have a full scan of all modules on the vehicle , could have DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes stored . Not for the OBD 2 engine computer . The instrument cluster , BCM , LCM can all set codes too, related to lighting an someother thing's . ECM Inputs and Outputs Diagnosis Electric Testing Techniques You Need to Know You can find free wiring diagrams here http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter vehicle info. year , make , model and engine ! Under system click on lighting ,then under subsystem click headlamps . Click the search button then the blue link . The first diagram you will see at the top the power supply to the LCM , down a little you will see the headlamp switch , ambient light sensor . Now if you want to start replacing thing's without testing good luck !

My 1997 buick park avenue is idling intermittently between 500-2000 rpm, sometimes stalling while idling. I washed the engine yesterday.

Mr.Dacus. just an advice. Never wash Engines. Especially electronics. Now my Advice is to start checking where the water came in touch with the engine Electronics. Spark plugs, distributtor if you have, Coil, (HT leeds ), Just use air and contact cleaner spray to bring everything in dry and contact situation. Thats how you will have everything in good situation. Best of luck.

If it is the factory radio you need to set the clock on then here is the information: Setting the Clock Press and hold HRS until the correct hour appears. Press and hold MIN until the correct minute appears. You may set the clock with the ignition off if you press RECALL first and follow the same procedure described above This was taken from the owners manual, which I was able to locate online here: http://www.vadengmpp.com/owners-manual/buick/1997-Buick-ParkAvenue.pdf
