Brake light stays on
they had a lot of problems with the switches when they where new im sure things haven't changed much
1991 Buick Ragal Custom 3.1 starts, then stalls immediately.
You need the exhaust converter so the O2 sensor canwork properlyIt sounds as though the converter is blocked,as wellas the fuel trim, if that is correct term for an OBD1 System,is not able to report back the oxygen in the failed converterSo the ecm can not provide the correct fuel mixture bypulsing the injectorsI would also expect the timing chain to have a lot of slop& possibly be off a couple teeth, from worm plastic gearon cam
91 buick regal custom 3.1L v6 cuts off no spark to plugs but will crank again after some hours
If the engine uses an integrated electronic pick-up coil in the distributor, it is probably bad. Lots of times the coil will be open-circuit when hot and then when it cools down it will make the connection again. You can also try getting a can of freeze spray from an electronics parts store (like RadioShack or similar) and when it quits, try taking the distributor cap off and spraying down the internal parts of the distributor and reassemble and test.
How do I set the brake light switch?
switch should be located on the metal piece above your brake pedal under the dash. Follow the metal brake bar to the top and there should be an electrical switch mounted there. when you dont have your foot on the brake the switch should be depressed against a bracket. When you push the pedal down the switch should no longer be depressed.Tha'ts how your brake light circuit works. Sometimes they can be adjusted. But most of the time you have to replace it. They are not hard to change. Just in a tuff spot under the dash. Before replacing the switch you should try turning the piece that makes contact out farther to try and add more pressure against the metal. I don't know if you turn clockwise or opposite.Try counterclockwise first. Good luck
Replace motor mounts on a 1991 buick
The car needs to be up in the air, you will need a good hydraulic jack, safety jack stands and a full set of hand tools with socket U joints and varied extension sizes. Support the oil pan with a jack and a large flat block of wood and release the tension on the "through" bolts of the mounts, then slowly raise the engine off the mounts and unbolt and replace the mounts.
Running lights work but no blinkers or brake
I'm inclined to believe it is the turn signal switch. When you select left or right, the brake light is removed from that side, and the flasher is connected to the bulb instead, making the brake light on that side flash as the indication that you plan to turn. You have lost everything, but the simple answers check out.
If you have lost signals, brake lights and tail lights, then it is more likely that the ground supplied to the bulbs is not working, since the tail lights share noting in common with the brakes lights and turn signals but ground.
If the tail lights work, the fact that the brake lights and rear turn signals share that switch starts to look meaningful — even more so if the front turn signals also don't work. But the front signals and the rear signals use different circuitry in the switch, so it would be something more mechanical in the switch than electrical in that case.
How do I change the Throttle Position Sensor
Some throttle position sensors are adjustable. Follow manufacturer's instructions.
- On older engines, correct adjustment is crucial to proper system operation.
- On newer engines, this is not as important because the computer uses whatever reading it takes at idle as base voltage (adaptive learn strategy).
Incorrect TP sensor adjustment may cause:
- Inaccurate idle speed,
- Engine stalling, and
- Acceleration stumbles.
Follow these steps to adjust a typical TP sensor:
- Backprobe the TP sensor signal wire and connect a voltmeter from this wire to ground.
- Turn on the ignition switch and observe the voltmeter reading with the throttle in the idle position.
- If the TP sensor does not provide the specified voltage, loosen the TP sensor mounting bolts and rotate the sensor housing until the specified voltage is indicated on the voltmeter.

- Hold the sensor in this position and tighten the mounting bolts to the specified torque.
Most throttle position sensors are made so that their adjustments are tamperproof. They have screws that are either soldered or staked.
To remove the switch, these might need to be drilled or filed off. After the new switch is installed and adjusted, the new mounting screws are restaked.
What happens when ur car jumps timing and what causes it?
A car with a timing belt will jump time for several reasons, the belt dries out and the teeth strip off the belt, the tensioner or guide wear and fail, the belt can stretch over the years causing it to jump the sprockets. A car with a timing chain can jump because many were made with cam gears that had plastic teeth and they wore out, or the gear was made out of a casting that wore out, or the chain stretched replacement cam gears were usually made out of steel. Why is my turn signal slow
Might have a bad bulb (not dead yet, but arcing to other element instead of working as it should. Or might just need a new flasher unit.)
