Hi, if the car turn over, and it don't start. Then it is like the engine don't get fuel. Or bad a spark plugs. Most common problem is the fuel pump going bad.

It could also be a bad fuse, but a easy way to check if the fuel pump is ok is to have someone stand at the back of the car when you turn the ignition. The fuel pump should make a buzzing sound for a few seconds. And if you don't start the car right away the fuel pump will stop.

If you don't hear any buzzing from the fuel pump/fuel tank then you have a bad fuel pump............

Ticking could be small or large problem. Is it louder on top of the engine or below? Make sure it has plenty of oil.

Do you know how to check fuel pressure ? Hooking up a fuel pressure gauge , testing for spark ? Spray some carburetor cleaner into the engine an see if it starts an runs for a couple of seconds .If it does you have a fuel delivery problem ,an if it doesn't check ignition system more closely . Also do compression test ,may have jumped time , timing belt problem .

For a 12 year old vehicle, the most common reason is loss of refrigerant due to corrosion holes in the front condensor core. Easy to check: find the blue or black H valve cover on the A/C line from the condensor, and press the valve momentarily. A loud hiss means you have pressure, a quiet or no SSSSS measn you have a hole. Fixing means replacing the condensor, drier canister, all O-rings, vacuum and recharge, by a A/C specialist. starter will turn crank over but if chain broke all valves are not going to move so no seal no compression =rebuild
