1994 Mitsubishi Mighty Max Questions & Answers
Working on a 1993 mitsubishi mighty max with a 3.0 . it has a hard time starting and when it starts it dies when the excelerator is pressed?
no mileage told , 3.0L V6engine, gas.
cranks and starts.
so does start and idle as long as you want?
or idles fine and only throttle pushed stalls it.
stalls have 3 reasons in physics, on Otto cycle gas engine
1: bad engine
2: bad spark (never did a tune up ever, plugs wires or boots?
3: bad fuel, lean fuel or flooding (means gross rich fueling)
3a fuel filter packed omg not 29 years old .?
4: air no air to burn fuel the air filter is packed up.
when did this old car last run right, list week, month ,year ,decade./?,
found this car in a barn, dead? there is always story on any car 29 years old and one does not see them on the road now so..... tell it"?
if fuel is/was old that is bad fuel and clogs up many parts in the fuel system.
is this USA car? spec?
why not start with x6 spark plugs/.? fresh new and gapped right.
then cap/rotor and those useless 29 year old HV spark wires x6
kick those to the curb, and get MAG wires from BOSCH or NGK
that will cure spark if the 1 spark coil is good and the Distributor parts deeper are good the ICM.
White smoke, battery wont hold a charge
If your battery is bad, you can jump start it sometimes but it's running off your alternator...After doing this many times it will kill your alternator also..You can go by almost any auto shop and they will check your battery and alternator free...But it sounds like the battery
I was quoted $500 to replace all the lifters. Is this a good price?
That is a ridiculously high price to replace lifters on a 4 or 6 cylinder engine. On the Mitsubishi 4 cylinder motor, the only thing that is needed to do is remove the valve cover and remove the rocker rod. (2 rods which hold the rocker assembly.) Next is remove the lifters from the bottoms of the rockers and pop in the new ones. Be sure to soak the new lifters in oil for 24-48hrs prior to install so they are pre-filled before install. Replace the rocker assembly and torque down to specs. replace valve cover and then start the vehicle. Check that there is no loud tapping noise and do not race the engine until the lifters have pumped up with engine oil. You should replace oil and filter for this engine work as well.
While my truck was being repaired it was driven for quite some time with very little oil in it. Now my truck clacks constantly.
If one was damaged from lack of lubrication, they probably all are excessively worn. The engine will perform better if they are all the same, so it's best to replace the entire set to keep it running smoothly. It isn't really that much extra work once you have access to the lifters compared to trying to figure out which ones are noisy. The only reason not to do this is if you are time-rich and cash-poor, and only have enough money to change a couple of lifters. If you are paying somebody to do it, new lifters are probably cheaper than the labor of sorting bad from good.
You should also check the rocker arms to make sure they are still in usable condition; excess wear at the pivot can get noisy also.

How to remove crank shafe gears
Your Might Max has a 4G60 series engine, so I guess you want to get the 14mm nut off the oil pump belt pulley. On the lower side of the block there's a 17mm (or maybe 14mm, I forget) bolt. Remove this and you can poke a 10mm screwdriver into the hole. This locks the oil pump balance shaft. You will need to rotate the oil pump pulley to get the screwdriver all the way in. You should then be able to remove the 14mm head bolt(it's an M10 I think) on the pulley. It should not be excessively tight.
I need to hotwire my 1994 Mitsubishi Mighty Max
Unless it has a points and condenser distributor you are not going to hot wire it. Electronic ignition relies on numerous signals to the ECU to fire the ignition and the fuel injectors. Unless you live outside of the USA or in a country without many smog restrictions then you have electronic ignition and fuel injection. If you have points and condenser ignition the run a wire from the battery positive to the ignition coil positive.
