How to remove clip on shift lock on a 2006 Monte Carlo
I was having the exact same issue with my monte carlo ss just this week. You
obviously have taken it all apart so you can now see the harness. The
release for the clip is situated in a difficult place. There is a
1.5 inch thin strip of plastic that covers the shifter shaft. Slide
this up and either use an elastic band or tape it to the shifter, just
to hold it up and out of the way.Now shine a flash light down and to
the right and you will see the back of that stupid gray clip. Use a
flat head or some thing similar to dislodge the clip. Now you
will have to remove the blue things on the clip and remove the old
broken wire out of the harness. Make sure you document which colored
wire goes where. You will however have to attach new terminals to
the ends of the wires before inserting them into the harness again. You
can purchase these from any auto parts place. (I just grabbed some
from my friend's shop.)
