2006 Chevy Impala LT (Engine Overheating)
You or the impala have awful bad luck. Don't worry, it's not worth thousands, so unless you can do any repairs your self, be willing to walk away from it if it really does need extensive repairs. The noise from the hub area should be pretty easy to diagnose-not that many things there that could cause it (like wheel bearing, brake part or suspension part)-and all relatively easy to replace for a DIY'er. But the overheating is the big concern, and is often expensive, just not always. I would say have it looked at by a pro, gives you the best diagnosis. You said it crashed into a wall, it could be as simple as your radiator fans not coming on- the engine computer should turn them on when a certain temperature is reached. You need the whole cooling system diagnosed-water pump, radiator, fans, thermostat, recovery tank, hoses- You have checked the fluid level by now, yes? You need to see if coolant circulation is good, and see if the system holds pressure as it should-it is a sealed system, designed to work under pretty low pressure, that is what the radiator cap is supposed to seal.
