Why "too much gas"?
Several possibilities: Bad fuel pressure regulator, leaking injector, but most common is bad coolant temp sensor.
Is this car know to crack a head when over heated
Over heating can cause a cylinder head to crack or burn a valve/gasket.
Overheating is a sign of a stuck thermostat, a blocked radiator/collapsed radiator hose .. or a cylinder head problem
First, check the dipstick for grey/creamy sludge. This means water/coolant has found its way into the oil system via a faulty head gasket/cylinder head problem.
Then .. if you know what you are doing .. do a compression test.
If you're not sure what you are doing .. give a mobile mechanic a call and ask his advice
Best time to change a fuel filter?
fuel filter replacement period is in the owners manual and depends on fuel quality and driving conditions
if you get water in the fuel , it should be change immediately, even if it was just done
dirty/dusty conditions , change it more often
around now would be a good time to change it and then under normal conditions again at 100.000 miles
What is transmission fluid capacity?

Indoor lights that dim and then go off after you leave car are staying on
a few things to check with this problem:
(1) ck all the interior lamp switches to see if there all set to "auto" mode an not to "ON" all it takes is one and they all stay on
(2) ck all the door switches to see if any look funny or damaged in any way , as if any of them are not working the lamps will stay on , replace any that are not working properly (don't forget the hatchback)
(3) its actually a plug in module next to the fuse panel that preforms this dimming function , as a last resort I replace it
Why don't I/P lights work?
Instrument Panel Dimmer. probably included with the headlight switch. fyi. I had same problem on a 99 chevy and went thru 3 of these from parts store then bought one from gm no problems since.
