How to change an alternator belt on a 1998 montero

Please confirm to me but I believe the alternator is driven with the serpintine belt. If this is the case there is an idler/tension pulley that would need to be first loosened (I believe it is a 14MM) then at the top of the bracket where this pulley is mounted there is a bolt that you rotate to either loosen or tighten the belt (by turning this bolt you either raise or lower the pulley.
I hope this may have helped,
Tom

Windsheild wipers won't work, is it the switch?

The easiest way to determine if is the switch is to take a test light turn the truck on and turn the wipers on at the switch unplug the motor and see if you are getting power at the plug for the motor. If not getting power check and make sure the fuse is not blown first if the fuse is not blown remove the cover around the column where the switch is mounted and find the wires for the switch and see if there is power to the switch and coming out of the switch if no power out of the switch change the switch. If you are getting power to the plug at the motor replace motor.

My blinkers wont work but the hazards work. No fuses burnt out.

That would most likely be the switch itself. Fairly common

AC IS NOT COOLING. FREON HAS BEEN CHECKED AND IS FINE.

Impossible to tell w/o the belt being installed. If the compressor is dead, no amount of freon will work. My guess is that they probably removed the belt due to compressor issues but if the compressor does kick on and there's no cool air, it may need freon. Freon can't be added unless the compressor is on and running.

How to change horn on 1998 montero sport

Just changed my horns on my 98 Montero Sport and come to find out it was the horn relay. The horn relay is located near your power steering resivour its a small black square you will see some electrical lines running to it. Give it a couple taps and then try out your horn again. If that dosnt work your horns are located right behind your turn signals on your front bumper, they are circluar 3in and golden colored. You can get dealer ship replacement horns for 30 plus dollars or go to a autozone or advance auto and get aftermarket ones

How do I change the valve covergasket on 98montero

To change the valve pan cover gaskets you have to first take the intake off the engine and don't forget which bolt goes where then and only then you would have access to the valve pan covers.

Left turn signal wont turn off and right one wont turn on.

You need to replace the blicker switch. The metal contact on your blinker switch is not being moved when you switch it over because its a little plastic bump that snapped off. You'll have to take the plastic molding around your steering column off before you do this. Most screws are behind plastic plugs in the molding that hide the screws.

When i start the car it wont start. seems like

It could be a bad ground or the starter solenoid itself. Take the starter to any parts store and they will test the starter for free....plus while you are under there, you can check your cables to the starter and see what the condition of them are in.
