Where is the remote key transmitter located on a 2002 Ford Explorer XL
First go to ford owners manual.com and register for free then download your owners manual go to roadside emergencies and your fuse box diagrams are in there and the fuse values also your key and remote control procedures are in there check all fuses next it depends where your keypad is to your location of the driver door module if it' on the door by the lock cylinder and the handle it is located underneath the defroster grill on the passenger side above the glove box if the keypad is on the upper part of the door where the window track is that if the window was open you could grab the door it' in the right rear passenger panel where the seat belt is pop out both panels for the trim and you will see the box with the 5 digit code on it but I think you have a fuse problem here so 1 by 1 take them out and use 0000 that' 4/0 steel wool to clean and shine them and alcohol after this and all are good check your remote control batteries they maybe dead and if still no luck check the keypad wires for corrosion or broken off these should be done first /////// fuses////remote batteries //////door keypad wire check (if you always used your key to punch in your code there might be a hole in a button allowing water to get in and short it out it depends on the button type soft rubber is the bad one but also the gasket could be dried up letting in water but it' most likely a corrosion or broken wire here )////// then go to the module and I gave you both locations because some were done in the dash grill and later assemblies were done in the back as production was starting to change for newer module trucks it depends on the build date anyway take your time go slow and write everything down that you did so we can rule out possible causes of the problem most times corrosion and oxidation of wires and contacts are to blame here as well as bad fuses and dead remote batteries you probably have 2 things going on here ok good luck and have fun learning and post back if the problem persists we'll get you there I'm a taxi mechanic in nyc.with 50 years experience in all phases of the automobile and we've had a lot of explorers over the years so you have the right person on your team now to get it done once again good luck and I have to get back to a crown victoria that one of my BEN HURS has managed to ruin a 4 month old transmission that I rebuilt they are amazing people I swear that they are driving up and down stairs with the cars/trucks at orchard beach or entering equestrian events and jumping hurdles the vehicles go out and never come back the same way after one 12 hour shift totally abused by maniacs so always look in your mirror you ll never know whats coming at you okay later stephen

Will anti theft by pass module over really bypass the theft system
My mechanic disconnected the security section because my key I use to start the car had the security spot on the key was loose and would not work in the ignition It was going to cost a lot for a new set of keys so he took the security section out for a lot less. As he said an older car does not need security.
