Exterior door handle on 97 thunderbird

You will have to remove the door panel. To do this use a phillips screwdriver and remove the two screws under the inside door handle. Then lift and remove the section. Remove another screw from the interior lower left corner. Pry the window crank apart "if exists" then use a T20 torq bit to remove the screw in handle. Remove the panel by lifting and pulling at same time. With window in up position you can see inside the hole a rod going from the door handle to a bracket with a Yellow clip. Slide the clip to the open position and pull the rod out of the clip. From the outside of door under the handle there are two rivets. Use a punch and knock out the center of each rivet. Then use a 1/4" drill bit and drill out the rivet. A flat tip screwdriver will be used to knock off the rest of the rivet. You will need two flat head screws and lock nuts or to reinstall the handle. Lift out old handle with attached rod. Twist rod as you pull to remove it and install it into the new handle. Place the rod through the hole and look inside to be sure is will move to the location of the yellow clip.Install the screws from the outside and the nuts from the inside and tighten. From inside connect the rod to the yellow clip. Lift on the rod while closing the clip. Then test door handle. If it doesn't work properly the rod was not lifted or pulled outward enough. Redo that step until you get it right. Reinstall inner panel as removed.

My 1997 ford thunderbird lx check engine light flashed on and off then it stayed on

If a problem happens 3 times in a row the engine light will come on. Then the code must be read in order to find out what needs to be fixed. Auto Zone will read the code for you at no charge, if you don't have a reader.

1997 Ford Thunderbird 4.6l Automatic

Brake sensor. It tells transmission, brake is depressed and allows you to shift out of park. Or check with diagnostic computer, free at some major retailers. Most likely a sensor, if not transmission may be bad. If you need further help, reach me via phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/frankie_091f536560a54e12

Where is the location for obd II system for 1997 ford thunderbird

The OBD conector is located under the globe compartment, in the passenger side. The ECM is located in the pillar, beneath the trim cover... you must remove the cover and some of the plastic parts that protect it to access the ECM.

97 thunderbird...new blower,sensor,switch panel, but vents won't change...vaccume leak? ...v-8

There is generally a cylinoid under the dash that runs the flaps in the car's vents to change whitch way they go, check that and also check if it has a relay in the fuse panel or under the dash it may be out. To chech the relay you can look on the back for the numbers and they will match with others in the pannel on the car just swop it out with a nother and then try if it workes then you know that the relay is bad and you need a new one. If not then you know that the cylinoid is bad and needs replaced.

Will not turn over no sound

check battery cable connection clean and tighten, turn on head light or horn to check if battery has power. if battery is dead possible trouble would be 1. battery needs replacement (replace), 2. alternator not charging (replace), if battery has power starter motor is defective (check, fix, or replace).
