I need to replace my instrument cluster on my 2000 Buick Century. I can do it myself, but I'm a little concerned about the odometer. Is the milage stored in the odometer itself or in the car's computer? If I put in a used instrument cluster, will the odometer reading display my car's milage, or the milage of the car it came out of? If it displays the milage of the car it came out of, how can I correct it without getting an error code?

2000 buick century how to replace a coolant level sensor coolant light stays on 2000 buick century. Levels are good. How do I check or replace sensor?
The coolant level sensor is located on the radiator. If you are looking at the engine from the front of the car it will be on the left side. There will some kind of clip holding it in the radiator. Removed the clip and pull the sensor out. You will lose coolant so try to swap it out quick or drain some of the coolant out. Once new sensor is installed, install clip to keep the sensor in place and reconnect the wires to the sensor. Crank the engine and make sure the coolant level is full. This should correct your problem.

i had this problem, you have to bring the gas tank down, change the sensor (little black piece) mechanic should know what im talking about and put everything back, my mechanic took 75$ labour for half hour so try to get it for 50

on my 2000 buick century the light that displays the odometer does not work. is there a fuse to fix the problem
Sadly no, there is no fuse or bulb to replace. You either have to send the instrument cluster out for repair or replace it with a new unit from the dealer. You could also obtain a serviceable one from a salvage yard. Most shops should be able to replace the instrument cluster or advise who can repair it.

2000 Buick Century gas gauge seems to read correct when car is turned on, but quickly reads full, even when it is almost empty.
You're either looking at a short in the wire that goes to the fuel sender, or a bad fuel sender. If it was just a broken wire, it would read empty instead. The fuel sender is a permanent part of the fuel pump, so that has to be replaced as a unit.

2000 buick century 3.1 cooling fans do not turn on or off .checked relays and fans all seem good .autozone said it was my temp. switch which installs on the engine.my ? is does the temp switch tell the fans to turn on and off or does it just let my gadge know the temperature level and thats it

2000 buick century fuel filter location
A fuel filter is used in the fuel feed pipe ahead of the fuel injection system. The fuel filter housing is steel with a quick-connect fitting at the inlet of the fuel filter and a threaded fitting at the outlet of the filter. The threaded fitting is sealed with an O-ring, which is replaceable. The filter element is paper and is designed to trap particles suspended in the fuel that may damage the injection system. The fuel filter on these vehicles is attached to the underbody, in front of the fuel tank. Note that there are no service intervals for in-line fuel filter replacement. Only replace the filter if performance problems or troubleshooting indicates the filter is restricted.
Care is required when working around the fuel feed and return pipes. Many vehicles now use nylon fuel pipes, designed to perform the same job as steel or rubber fuel lines. Nylon pipes are constructed to withstand the maximum fuel system pressure, exposure to fuel additives and changes in temperature. Two sizes are used: 5 / 16 in. I.D. for the fuel return and 3 / 8 in. I.D. for the fuel feed. Nylon fuel pipes are somewhat flexible and can be formed around gradual turns. However, if forced into sharp bends, nylon pipes will kink and restrict fuel flow. In addition, once exposed to fuel, nylon pipes may become stiffer and are more likely to kink if bent too far. Special care should be taken when working on a vehicle with nylon pipes.
Quick-connect type fittings provide a simplified means of installing and connecting fuel system components. Depending on the vehicle model, there are two types of quick-connect fittings, each used at different locations in the fuel system. Each type of quick-connect fitting consists of a unique female connector and a compatible male fuel pipe end. O-rings, located inside the female connector, provide the fuel seal. I have a 2001 buick century that will not start but the starter and solonoid seem to be ok. Is there a relay or fuse some place that we should know about?

car won't start on a hill
That is typically indicative of a fuel pump issue. It isn't necessarily the fuel pump itself, but the way it is positioned in the tank when low on fuel can keep it from getting fuel.
If you fill the tank and find however that the problem still exists then the other cause is related to parking.
Your Buick has a safety mechanism that will not allow it to be started if not fully parked, called the Brake Transmission Shift Interlock. Not only does this solenoid controlled component not allow you to shift out of park without applying the brake, you also will not be able to start it if this mechanism is faulty, or something in the gear select linkage prevents the shift selector from properly engaging the parked position. When on a hill and you shift into park, the vehicle weight is rolled against a component of this system, preventing it from properly "registering" the parked gear select position.
What you can do the next time you need to park on a hill is with your brake applied and the gear select in Drive, apply the emergency brake and hold it down, THEN shift into park. Then release your feet from the brakes. This should help.

My check engine light keeps coming on and telling me I have the code P0131. This means that the upstream oxygen sensor has low voltage. I've replaced both the upstream and downstream oxygen sensors, but still get the check engine light coming on and giving the same code. What could cause this and how do I fix it?
This code does not mean to replace the sensor , testing is what is suppose to happen .
