It is more likely to be the temperature sender, located on one of the coolant hoses under the bonnet near to the thermostat!

It might be a coincidence with the sun roof, but all makes and models of cars have window and door lock problems with age. Two things happen as a car ages. In most cases, the drivers door opens and closes more often than the rest of the doors, also your more likely to leave the drivers window open and it rains in on the controls. The majority of the time, it's the wiring at the door hedge that bends back and forth & breaks when you get in and out of your vehicle. Everyone's situation is different depending on use/mileage. Example: Delivery driver, miles 50k window/door lock problem. Highway daily driver 150k miles with no problems. You can sometime check this your self. Turn on your ignition where the windows should work. "engine does not have to start" Sit in the drivers seat, hold down the window up/down button while moving the door in question to open & close. If the window tries to move at any time, the wires are wore in half. This does not always work, but I have had great luck trouble shooting electrical door problems using this method. Relay is in the fuse box along with the fuse for the fan.. First check the fuse.always check the easist thing first. Inside the fuse box is a list of which fuse powers each item.. refer to the list. If you have a volt meter you can check the fuse.. or just pull it and replace it. There are spare fuses in the box. The small red tool in the fuse box next to then spares, is a tool to remove the fuses. You can disconnect the fan wires at the plug.. the fan runs on standard 12v system power. You can jump 12v to it to see if it will run.. if it does not run than look at the relay and the Temp senser that turns the fan on.. If you are going to work on your own car i suggest that you purchase the Chilton Manual for the car.. a really good investment.

indicating a micro switch failure or that the top clamps are not fully closed. make sure the rear handle under the seat is fully retracted

not familiar with that vehicle, but sometimes if u can jack up the vehicle n get underneath u can manually open the hood by pushing on the locking latch...also if you have jumper cables u can run them from another battery to yours under the hood while ur underneath...b careful!! n always hook up positive FIRST!!...

connect a wire from the jump battery to the large terminal on the starter motor underneath the car ,the neg to any metal engine part and the car will open ,also seem to remember some vehicles had a jump connection by the back light right side ?? but being old i cannot quite remember about this one or if it was a merc??

This usually happens when stuff spill on the hazard switch. Remove it and clean it out really well. Usually sticky stuff causing sticking or a little short within it. If that doesn't work, replace the module and you should be good.

when you write that you had found no fault with the switches, what were you trying to find? I'm not familiar with the wiring in your car, but in my vehicle everything is in series and parallel relays. So if one drops out or malfunctions, the fan does not function. Most cars keep the fan running after the car has been stopped from running because of residual heat in the engine. If it runs beyond 15 minutes I would start to be suspicious.

all the fuses are behind the glove box.. there isn't a fuse for the airbag light. there is only a fuse for the whole cluster. just be safe and fix your airbag. you shouldn't be cheap when it comes to your life, if you cant afford an air bad don't drive.

I have the same problem with my step-son--he won't work sometimes either. In your case, try taking your car to a BMW-authorized repair center.

Most likely the alternator is shot and not able to charge your battery. But the battery could be shot itself. Usually the battery light comes on for the alternator. Kind of sounds backwards but it really saying "charging issue".
