How do you open a fully automatic convertible top on a 1997 328l bmw
Release both motors, remove the plastic cover located in the middle of the top inside. Put a hex bit in your cordless drill and unscrew in reverse until the top latches are released from the top.
Then it basically takes two people to fold back the top. Unfortunately with a fully automatic top you likely won't be able to engage the tonneau so don't plan on driving on the highway.

How do you add transmission fluid?
From below the car. the fill plug is at the bottom of the pan. You need a pump to push the fluid from the bottle to the transmission.

My 97 bmw28is wont start everyting was working fine.batterry is full ibut cae r wont start
wont crank?
or cranks robustly (the crankshaft spins fast) but wont start.
all cars that dont start one, all ran when new. etc.
what counts is the now. only.
you need to do the tests. all covered in the FSM or at alldata.com
i cant help you because you . cuz did not say crank or start? so......
1: test all fuses. (not just gandering, use a meter)
2: check battery voltage 12.6vdc rested.
3: if not cranking, wiggle the shilter (a/t) or clutch if m/T
if a/t? try cranking in Neutral. cranks now? bingo.
4: cranks ok, and fast so check spark/
ill end there, due to vast number of tests and no clear stated
symptoms.
ever give it a full tuneup (60,000 mile service schedule?) or this DECADE. if not why ask the spark plug question.

How to tell if your motor is ruined from overheating
top up with COOLANT and drive around for a short distance not to far from home and watch the temp gauge and see how the engine drives if temp gauge goes into red stop wait for engine to cool at least an hour then carefully remove coolant cap and check if there is any coolant loss, if temp gauge stays at normal you may be lucky

Qd32 keeps blowing head gasket in a short distance as put on changed head and checked block but is still doing the same thin
When you do a head job there is a problem with water getting into the head bolts holes in the block. Combined with gunk already in the hole when you insert the head studs and tension down all you are doing is causing a hydraulic in the hole under the stud and the correct pressure to seal the head gasket is not being achieved.. It is a requirement that when doing a head job the stud holes are cleaned out using a thread tap ( to remove rust and carbon build up) and the holes are blown out with compressed air to remove all water-oil and debris.. Most mechanics use a film of oil on the stud threads before installing them-- My preference is "never seize" as it allows the threads to move freely under tension and stops binding of the threads. Tension the head studs in the correct order of rotation to settle the head gasket in place starting at 20 ft/lbs and do each rotation in increased increments of 10 ft/lbs until the correct head tension is reached . Before fitting the head check the protrusion of each cylinder liner above the block to ensure that they are all within tolerance as if one is lower than the rest it will not allow proper seating of the head
