My 2004 bmw 318i is
burning oil would result in blue smoke from the tailpipe
HOWEVER, small leaks do not always show visual signs at the the tailpipe
additionally, most manufactures, including this one, state that burning a quart or two every 3,000 miles is "normal"
while I do not agree with this, short of an engine overhaul there are limited options
BTW.... the last time a 318i was offered in the US was 1998... can you confirm your year/make and model so that I can research any TSB's from BMW?

Brake light sensor dose not work
Replace the brake light switch then. It's on the top of the brake pedal. Also check fuse first and condition of brake lights. You should, ideally check the switch operation with a multimeter before replacing.

What does code p0203 mean for bmw 318i
Nr 3 injector faulty or open circuit to nr 3 injector. You could swap injector to another cylinder, clear the code & see if the code changes to another cylinder (PO201 nr 1, PO202 nr2 etc) then you know the injector is faulty or you could just replace & clear & see how you go. Most likly cause is the injector.

Vacuum leak wont pass i/m test
This is a different problem than a normal Vacuum leak. The Evaporator emissions lines have both fuel vapors and vacuum flowing through them. If the leak is in the hose system, the method used to find the hole is called a "smoke test". This requires a special machine which pumps a visible smoke into the Evaporator hoses.Leaks as small as a pin hole can be found and patched. The gascap is also a part of the system and a bad cap can cause a leak too. The gascap is about the only thing you can try before a smoke test. You could also have a bad gastank which could also vent Vacuum from the system. Smoke would also escape from the tank to reveal a leak during the smoke test.I hope my solution is helpful.

How can I reset the
If it is to clear a "check engine" light, any good auto parts store will loan you an ECM analyzer or bring it out to your car and take care of it for you.
The analyzer plugs in near the drivers left knee and you simply follow the on-screen instructions to read the code(s) and reset them.
If you need to reset the computer for some other reason, the easiest way is to disconnect the battery for about 1/2 hour. Please be advised that this will also reset your security system and radio codes and if you do not have them either in your manual package or written down, you may have problems with these systems after a full reset.
