That's your anti lock brake modulator mis functioning. You need a BMW dealer or a competent shop to look at it. It could be a simple as a defective wheel sensor to the control module.

You did not mention the year, but I am guessing that you have an all-electric trunk release and the car is electrically dead due to the battery cable problem.
If this is the problem, attach another car via jumper cables to the jumper cable attachment point under the hood and a good engine ground to power the car so the lock will work.
I own a 2002 BMW
This is actually a common problem with Z3's. It has nothing to do with the emissions systems, it is a fault with the instrument cluster, sometimes causing one or more gauges to stop functioning. It very rarely sets off any diagnostic codes, and many dealers don't even know how to address it, usually just replacing the entire cluster. Call around to a couple of your local BMW dealerships (don't even bother calling local repair shops) and speak to the service manager. Ask if he is familiar with the problem. Hope this gets you on the right track. Good luck.
Hi there, I have an
Your clutch sound fine. Start by looking or have someone look at clutch slave and master cylinder. (I believe it's hydraulic actuated)
Speedometer is on 70 miles
How did you find out about the speed difference? Have you changed the wheel and/or tire size with something aftermarket?
I own a bmw and
Only the dealer can give you the code, so far as I know, but I would buy a newer better radio before I would give them $100. Are they charging you because you need them to pull the radio out to get its serial number?
If you pull the radio yourself and get the serial number, the service writer should be able to key that serial number into his computer and get you the code in about 10 seconds. If he wants to charge you for that, try a different dealer. I got my code from Niello BMW in Sacramento for free.
You did not mention your model, you may need a special 5-sided allen wrench to remove the radio.
My local dealer wanted to charge $180 to reset the SRS light in my wife's BMW after I accidentally set it while working on her door. I called around and found a shop that reset it for free. I took them donuts.
I just bought a 1997
you have a bought a car with a worn out clutch end of story ,so take gearbox out and then take old clutch in hand to auto factor so you get the right clutch first time then fit it and you will have a nice car ,the clutch is hard to push down because the diaphramn spring in the pressure plate is working overtime because the clutch disk is worn to excess .not too difficult on this rear wheel drive car though just dirty work
Please tell me how to
Hello,
I'm not sure if this will help you, but, many vehicles have the belt diagram, as well as vacuum diagram and a/c information on the bottom side of the hood.

I own a bmw Z3,
You may need to reset the security system. You have to know the code or call the dealer to do so.

The "Bendix" is the starter drive in the actual starter. When you crank the starter the bendix is driven forward into the flywheel. It sounds like the bendix spring is worn or week and it's not meshing with the flywheel. Instead it's grinding against it. If you're ambitious you can pull the starter, dismantle it and replace the bendix or option 2 replace entire starter w/new or rebuilt. Both will have new drive and save you a bunch of time.
Sometimes I have trouble finding
A lot of times you are talking about a little piece of plastic that will act as a guide or a bushing to allow for a more tight feel when shifting. This is a pic of some of the fixes that you can use to eliminate this issue. If I remember correctly, you should be able to do this from inside the car. Look for bmw z3 shifter bushings on the internet or call your nearest BMW dealer and they should have them in stock.
