I would suspect vapor lock. The fuel rails are getting hot and it turns the diesel into a vapor instead of a liquid. A liquid is what is needed to go into the injectors. Try insulating all of the fuel lines with the shiny side out to reflect heat back to the engine.

Is it black? black smoke means you are burning too much gasoline could be a bad choke or even a dirty air filter. Blue smoke means you are burning oil out of your engine .White means water getting into crank case or pistons.

test the brake booster start the car and idle with the handbrake on. If it idles ok then apply the foot brake if the engine dies or stops --replace the brake booster If the engine will not ilel without the foot brake check for a vacuum leak in --the transmission vacuum line , vent control lines or manifold leak.

Remove the plug from each coil one at a time during idel.. you are trying to determine which cylenders are not firing.. If you find a weak one switch one of the strong cylinder coils to the weak one and see if the problem travels with the coil. If it does then the coil is at fault.. if not check the spark plug and run a compression test.Run these tests before you buy or replace any other parts.

code p1351 refers to cylinder misfire with fuel cut-off -cylinder 6===causes --wiring--connections--fuel level low--ignition/fuel system--intake leak---mechanical fault with this information on hand take it to an accredited BMW service shop and find the fault have a fuel pressure done on the fuel system, check all the connections Simple as it may seem ,the fuel gauge can be out and the tank fuel is too low to maintain pressure.,

You most likely have a bad light control module (LCM). I have seen this problem many times before with this module. The LCM basically controls all the lighting in the car. It is located in the passenger side kick panel, take off the plastic panel behind the door post under the dash and it is a black control module back there. You can pull it out and send it away to be repaired from places like BBA reman, this will avoid having to have a new unit programmed and will save you some money.

Hi Keith Sometimes the stearing lock comes on and sticks, try getting hold of the steering wheel and pull down to the left a bit at a time and at the same time try to put key in, or you can wobble the wheel as you are trying to put key in this also sometimes works...hope that helps
