Won't shift out of 1st gear and code reads PO777. Can you help me?

http://www.autocodes.com/p0777_volkswagen.html It means one of the devices that control how the transmission operates has malfunctioned, which has lead to the car being stuck in 1st gear. It's probably best to bring it to a mechanic for further diagnosis.

What is the approx.cost to replace or repair a torque converter clutch solenoid

a problem torque clutch solenoid normally will not kill an engine but allow it to rev up as it disconnects the transmission from the engine I would suggest that you have the fault codes read first to make sure that it is the problem There is a problem in that if the transmission is disconnected ( same result in selecting drive but car will not move) the engine should not stop or if it dies to low rpms then the solenoid is not the problem but maybe the transmission control module is selecting the wrong gear. I suggest a proper diagnosis by an accredited service centre or transmission shop specialist before sending money

Does a volkswagon jetta wagon tdi 1.9 deisel have a code if it is out of time

A diesel does not woek loke a gas/petrol vehicle. Whereas a gas engine has a distributor/ignition module to adjust the point of ignition of the fuel in the combustion chamber, a diesel ignites the injected fuel by compressing it . The compression of fuel causes a heat reaction that in turn, causes a slow combustion proces. This is why diesels are less revvy and have more torque than petrol/gas engines. Your friend/acquaintance was absolutely right. As long as there is an electric source to produce some heat in the first place, in order to heat the combustion chamber, I am talking about the glow plugs, The injection and compression of fuel will lead to combustion, that is how a diesel engine runsm there is no need for timing. Timing can be out though. A replacement fuel pump has to be in the correct position when installed so that it can deliver fuel at the right time , Timing belts can jump on diesels, just like on any other engine with a timing belt. This can lead to damage but the engine may still run if it is only one ttoth out. Example...my father's peugeot expert jumped one tooth but destpite hearing the striking of metal on metal he drove the van for about 6 months before the vehicle became terminal. I heard the valves hitting the pistons but dad is hard of hearing!!!! Anyway, it is possible but unlikely that your timing has jumped, have it checked immediately. There may be any other possible explanations for an inability to rev. Is the turbo functioning as it should? Have you cleaned the fuel system? Are all the filters clean? Are the fuel lines clear? etc First step...have the timing checked on the pulleys then go from there if they are all in the correct position

Looses power in passing gear

Could be many different things. If no check engine light is on then I would probally start checking fuel for proper volume or a restricted exhaust cat converter. Lots of variables depending on maintenance history.

The headlights and side lights wont turn off

Hi Rikki, Is this that the problem is you actually turn off the Headlamp switch and they do not turn off and you have to disconnect the battery or something? Or Is it your daytime running lights that come on when driving even in the daytime? If it is your daytime running lights if you turn your switch half way on ''PUSH it in'' and pull it out to remove the switch then count the bottom row of wires form the right to left and get the third wire in on the bottom , ''green'' and pull out this pin and tape it, it will turn off the daytime running lights. However, I really don't want to do the whole, ''why don't you go to the dealer to get it switched off BS'' stuff, But personally I drive with my main beam lights on all the time, I manually turn them on in no matter what car I am in so I can be seen by all the idiots we meet on the road. Statistically it has been proven to reduce accidents but I have had people reverse into me etc. even with the lights on and horn blowing. If I am mistaken and you just cannot turn off your lights at any time I apologize.

2004 jetta 1.8 turbo doesnt seem to be kicking in and the engine doesn't have much power. possible causes?

Have the car scanned for fault codes. A power loss in a turbo motor can be caused by simple vacuum leaks. You can check for loose piping and clamps. There are various components in that car that could cause such a problem. These include the turbocharger itself, the turbo boost (N75) valve, wastegate and its linkage, the car's ECU, maybe even a non turbo fault like a clogged catalytic converter or vehicle misfire.

Where to fin the engine vin # on a 2004 vw jetta diesel

The VIN is located on the drivers window post or base of dashboard, the compliance sticker in the door jamb, a sticker in the trunk near the spare tire, and the cowl, under the plastic cover, on the passengers side. But is it the VIN you want, or the engine code? The engine code should be stamped into an ear on the top edge of the cylinder head.

Have the oil pressure tested with a special mechanical test gauge, you may just have a bad pressure sensor. If the sensor not defective you can quickly burn out the engine bearings from lack of lubrication.
