2002 VW Jetta died while driving it.
Either you threw a belt or the alternator went bad. Your symptoms sound like alternator...you were running on the battery till you ran out of power.
How do i check tranny fluid?
There is no dipstick or way for the owner to check tranny fluid. It has to be brought to dealer and left overnight. They have to plug it in under a specific set of conditions to check fluid. Expect to pay about 40 dollars a liter for tranny fluid. I just had this done about 2 weeks ago
I have a 2003 Jetta
don't know about the MPG it could be a lot of things. I have a 2001 Jetta TDI. You should NEVER change the oil at 3K miles. VW recommends 10K miles for a reason. The Synthetic oil has additives to remove varnish and it does that but it needs some time to replace the varnish and properly protect sensitive engine parts. 3K is oil changes are not a good thing for a TDI......Just use the right oil and change at 10K
