Bypass the theft deterrent module

The security light is a indicator that one of the parts of the antitheft system is failing, this then disables parts of the car due to the antitheft thinking that the car is being stolen. You may have broken something while turning the ignition when trying to learn your key fob. Did you make sure to pull the radio fuse before trying the key fob process? A lot of GM's 2000 to 2004ish ran the antitheft thru the radio. Its really hard to tell. Here is a link that explains the anti theft system. A lot of information and some ways to get around the system.http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/Here is what i found for reprogramming your key fob remote 1. Be sure ignition is OFF.

2. Remove RADIO fuse from fuse box. Fuse will be number 17 and located at LH side of instrument panel. 3. Turn ignition from OFF to RUN 3 times within 5 seconds ending in the RUN position. Off is the position where you can remove your key and Run is the position shy of starting your vehicle (do not crank engine or start vehicle). Be sure you are turning the key from off to run quickly.4. Doors will Lock and Unlock indicating entry into programming mode. 5. Hold Lock and Unlock at the same time on first remote for approximately 15 seconds. Vehicle will respond by locking and unlocking doors indicating successful programming. 6. Repeat step 5 for each additional remote including working remotes.7. Switch ignition off. Replace RADIO fuse. Test all remotes.

I have a blinking check

Hi, if the trouble code was P0455, it could be a purge valve that has failed or jammed open. This can easily happen when the vapor cannister screen fails and allows charcoal into the purge line. The charcoalcan then block the closing of the purge valve and allow purge flow during idle. Remove the purge valve and see if it's open. If it's jammed, clean it out. If there is charcoal in it, replace the vapor cannister. If the valve just doesn't close due to a broken return spring, replace the valve.
If the valve is fine, turn your attention to the parts in the back of the car. Look for a busted hose on the cannister or a crack in the cannister, but this would not explain the idle issues. Please let me know if you have questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

Excessive power steering fluid usage

The power steering is a sealed system, if you are using fluid then you have a leak in the system somewhere. It could be the seals in the pump, a hose, a loose fitting or the rack and pinion is leaking. Have someone turn the steering wheel full left & full right while you inspect for leaks...you should be able to locate it. If it is the seals in the rack and pinion, it will be under the car. It's mounted directly in front of the cross-member. You can purchase a rebuilt R & P for less than $200 with your old core as trade in. Good luck, i hope this helps.

2002 Trans Am 5.7L V8.

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. Did you notice a difference in driving when the lights came on? I would say the reason the light is off now is because they erased the code from your computer when they scanned it.
