Whirring noise when put in gear
Transmission problem. Could be planetary gears, pump, converter, or clutch bands, making the noise. No one just replaces these parts. Rebuild or replace the transmission.
Front wheel bearing replacement
The bearings on this vehicle are in a sealed unit, called a wheel hub assembly, and cannot be serviced. The wheel hub assembly has to be replaced as a whole.
To do so,you will need to remove the wheel, the brake caliper (be sure to hang this out of your way,so as not to damage the brake line.). After you have done this, remove the axle nut,and rotor. Now you are down to the wheel hub assembly.
You will need to remove the three bolts that retain it from the back side of the unit, and then install a hub puller, which you can rent from Autozone.
Assembly is te reverse of the bove steps, and remember to torque all bolts to manufacturers specs, which Autozone can tell you what they are. Thanks.....Louis
How do I remove the front cupholders in a 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette>
I looked up an image of your vehicle interior. Looks like the cup holder is a slide out? If this is correct then you should be able to see some tabs on the side the will need to be depressed to get the slide to release. They may look like small triangles or slits. If you get a small tech screw driver in there and depress one side at a time while gently pulling you should get it to pop out.
What could happen if fuel sending unit goes bad?
All that happens is your fuel gauge will not work. It could read empty or full all the time depending on open or closed circuit. It won't affect the running of the motor but may affect any electronic readouts such as MPG, distance left until tank empty etc. if you have them. The most annoying thing may be the low fuel warning being triggered.
Overheating,leaking
The vehicle will overheat if the cooling system is not properly filled with coolant and all the air bled from the system. With the system full and void of air, you then must assess the operation of the rad fans for proper operation as well as t-stat operation
