Can i replace a rod bearing on a 2002 nissan maxima?

You can replace a connecting rod bearing with engine still in car. However in retrospect i would say it was easier just to pull the motor out and not have to worry about scratching rod journals and have room to remove and install bearings as well as check for other problems while you are there

No, it has a timing chain that will not require maintenance. Maybe he meant the external drive belts. They should be changed on schedule.

How often do you change the motor oil? The motor

Oil change recommended is every 3,000miles / 5000km for local short running around. If you clock up the miles quickly then extend the oil changes to 6,000miles /10,000km
Oil filter is every second oil change.
Use reputable multi grade oil 15W/40 or similar, Do not use standard SAE 30 single grade oil. You do not need to use synthetic / semi-synthetic oils either.

Maxima got a knocking noise by the power steering pump just replace the rod bearings and still knocks down by the power steering pum

You replaced the rod bearings, were they knocking? Also, you have wrist pins that connect the piston to the rod, if one is bad it will knock and sound like a bearing.
