When i turn my key on my wife's 01 mercedes benz
If your wife's key works fine and your key doesn't then there is a good possibility that your remote key is faulty. The alarm and locks may still work but those signals go to a different control module the when you try to start the car. If the ignition switch does not read the key then it will not allow you to start the car and sometimes not even turn the key in the ignition. Especially if there is any damage to the front part of the key where the red lens is at. Check and see if the infared signal is working on the remote key. To do this use a camera phone and go like your going to take a picture and point the key right at the lens of the camera phone. If it works you will see it on the screen. If it doesn't then you won't see anything when you push the button and hold it on the remote key. At the dealer they will probably ask for both keys and start by selling you a remote key.

The gear is stuck in park
No you do NOT need a new transmission.
This model Mercedes uses an electronic solenoid in the shift housing, to take the linkage out of park.
There is a small plastic part, activated by a solenoid that pushes a release, allowing the
shifter to come out of park. Most of the parts in the box were metal.
This particular part is plastic and very frail.
It is not an easy job, but any mechanic can do it.

Hi.
Low level or dirty transmission fluid is common cause for this kind of problems. Try bleeding and replacing transmission fluid.
If that does not help, there are a number of faults that can cause shifting problems on automated transaxle. Most common one is probably throttle position sensor related problem. The TPS sends incorrect voltage at determined speed and affects shifting into a determined gear. Other faults like slipping transmission, faulty shift solenoid and more can cause the same problem.
If refilling fuel does not sort out the problem I suggest doing a scan for engine fault codes. The scan is free at Autozone. If the scan returns a P0700 code then there is an error code stored in the transmission control module. In that case go to the dealer and do a TCM scan.

2000 s430 wont shut off
if its the diesel version then you have a vacuum hose broken or fallen off the the cylinder decompressor, you should be able to manually push something under the hood that is a red lever that says engine stop.
if its the gas version you got a real problem and it needs to be taken to a mercedes service tech, if thats unavailible, pop the hood and locate the coil or coil packs, stay away from the spark plug wires as they could be carrying 60000 volts, so steer clear of those and pull the bunch of wires that lead to it out, they will have a plug and a few small wires, so pull it carefully and try not to break the clip, you can plug it back in after the engine dies with no consequence, just make sure the key is off

HI CANNOT TURN KEY TO
Hi,
Are your Interior Lights working?
If NO, It looks like your dealing with a dead battery in the vehicle. See the alarm has a battery in it and when it detects low power it sounds because it thinks someone unhooked the battery. A new battery and possibly an Alternator are what your looking at. Have the battery tested/replaced and have the charging system checked out afterwords. If you want to try jump starting the vehicle, you need to use the emergency key that slides out the remote to open the trunk to get to the battery.
If the remote an interior lights do not work, the battery is probably dead. If that's not the case, Benz has to see it as only they can fix the alarm right or at all. They don't provide parts to the alarm outside the dealership.
Let me know,if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

HI. It is possible and legal for you to separate the concrete slab. You will need to measure properly, of course. As long as you measure the correct width and equally distribute the portions of the concrete slab, this should be ok. I would advise to seek proper documentation from your local zoning office for proper property lines and measurements(public records office). The worst thing that can happen here is to measure improperly, thus, creating more space than needed for your vehicle. This would not be legal.
I would also refrain form engaging in any confrontational activities with the other party, if possible. This will only exacerbate the issue. If there is any way possible that you can post a few photos on this matter, this would be most appreciated. I would like to examine the photos.

I have a 1999 Acura
Hi! Replacing the transmission support and replacing the transmission fluid is a good idea but I believe it wont solve the problem. It has to be the torque converter located inside the transmission itself. It controls the shifting, when faulty it most likely to give you sudden jumps like the one you experiencing. Used to work on one and replaced the torque converter and it got good. Hope this helps and have a good one!
