4.2l. Where is oil pump?
Hello. Your GMC's oil pump at the bottom of the engine block; covered by the oil pan. To access it; drain the oil and remove the oil pan. The 'oil pickup tube' is bolted to the oil pump 'cavity'. Good luck and keep me informed; if you want to.

How to deactivate parking assist option
Hello, Janice -
I can only think you do not have the owner's manual for your vehicle. The information about turning the curb view assist mirror on and off can be found in the manual.
This is the link to the PDF format user's manual for the 2006 GMC Envoy:
https://my.gmc.com/content/dam/gmownercenter/gmna/dynamic/manuals/2006/gmc/envoy/2006_gmc_envoy_owners.pdf
You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader software (free) to download/save the manual. If you download and save the manual to your Documents folder, be sure to save it using a file name you can find again easily, something like: GMC Envoy 2006 Manual.
The instructions to turn the Curb View off is on page 3-64 (Image 208) of the manual.
Best wishes.

A rod problem is a steady knock which increases with rpm. More likely you have a plugged air filter , a plugged fuel filter or a vacuum leak, ( vote fuel filter , people never change those often enough)

It is nothing to do with the canister or associated pipework.
There would be no problem if the filler pipe entered the tank at the highest point but mostly they don't. Realistically the problem is like filling an old-fashioned teapot through the spout if the lid was sealed down tight and there was no vent - once the level has risen to a point equivalent to the top of where the spout enters the teapot a pressure begins to build under the top that resists further filling.
To overcome this problem in the fuel tank and to allow complete filling, the high points have a vent and each vent is joined together by a hose that is terminated at a vent in the filler pipe at a height above the tank top.
When fuel blowback happens during filling the cause is mostly one or more of those vents or hoses is blocked or squashed or otherwise damaged...

Check the belt tensioner and the idle pulley... (looks just like the pulley on the tensioner, but bolts straight in.).. - from experience...my single pulley was bad... after replacing the tensioner TWICE... (duhh!!)
