2001 Ford Expedition. How to change the o2 sensor on it please?

Question edited for clarity and spelling of 'Expedition'. Question moved from Misc to model category. Yes, depending if they are upstream or downstream, they can be hard to reach and really need to be up on a lift at a garage. Videos that might help, but it is a fast job for a pro tech and you need a special wrench. https://www.google.com/search?q=2001+Ford+Expedition.+How+to+change+the+o2+sensor ..

How to fix p1744 on 2001 ford expedition

This code has to with the TCC - Torque converter clutch P1744 TCC TCC The PCM picked up an excessive amount of TCC slippage during normal vehicle operation. TCC slippage/erratic or no torque converter clutch operation. Refer to Diagnosis By Symptom in this section. You'll need to pull the transmission out an replace the torque converter ! Your better off taking to transmission shop an having a proper diagnosis done !

Power door locks dont work right

THE ONLY WAY TO FIND AND TRY AND FIX PROBLEM THAT IS YOU'LL HAVE TO REMOVE THE DOOR PANELS THAT ARE MAKING THE GRINDING SOUND, AFTER YOU REMOVE THE PANEL TRY TO OPEN THE WINDOW WITH THE REMOTE AND THIS TIME YOU'LL SEE WHATS MAKING THE GRINDING SOUND...MY GUESS IS THAT THE GLASS COULD BE OF THE TRACK. AND WHEN YOU USE THE REMOTE THE FORCE OF MOTOR AND GLASS CAUSES THE GRINDING SOUND.. GOOD LUCK.

2001 expedition won't come out of park, unless

Try the switch on the brake pedal bracket. When this switch gets bumped out of position by the drivers feet it causes difficulties. Check your under-dash fuse panel. Seen that many are bumped and window control relays are half hanging out of fuse panel.

2001 Expedition hesitates at after stopping. Runs fine while driving.

Throttle position sensor or throttle body is very dirty from cheap gas clean the throttle body with fuel injection cleaner and put it in the gas tank every week for a month use Berrimans fuel system cleaner start with 2 cans and a high quality premium gas Exxon shell bp mobile and then go to 1 can every tank full then after a month go to 1 can a month but stay on the 93 octane the higher the octane rating the more stable and slower the fuel burns and the higher quality gas has detergents in it to help keep it clean also change the gas filter again after 2 months because the Berriman cleaner will clear up the whole emissions system and this is recirculated back to the vacuum canister then back into the tank for it to be reburned again so the filter will catch any varnish sludge micron particles coming through now if you've done all of this and you've got the problem solved great if not please post back to me and I'll go further with you until it's solved you must understand that I'm not there to check myself so I don't have a good vision of what is wrong so Im trying to rule out some of the possibilities of what is wrong and your truck will improve its mpgs from the system cleaner and I think that the throttle position sensor has a worn-out contact spot in the idle position that is always used at the stopped for a light or stop sign position also check vacuum lines for cracks and 1 more thing take out each spark plug and check the gap it could be to far and at idle the firing spark is missing but at higher speeds it can compensate for it from a more rapid firing and check the boots by squeezing them and looking for cracks or really soft ones are letting the +spark escape to - ground and look for any moisture on them so you have a process of eliminating a few things and I hope the problem is fixed for you and if not get back to me as mentioned above and we'll get there so you know I'm a taxi mechanic in nyc.with 50 years experience in all phases of automotive systems and a ford specialist that dealer chief mechanics come to me when computers can't find the problems with the vehicle also after we solve your problems I can teach you and others who come across this post other things to do for optimum performance of your truck I have 4.6 & 5.4 motors with 300,000 + and some in 400,000 miles range that are still fast when we take them out of service so good luck and write down everything you do so we can rule out possible causes and have fun learning about the machine your driving yes machine it's gas driven but controlled by electrical voltage monitoring sensors that your computer sends commands to operate it all the best stephen

I have fuel in gas tank-after shutting off will not start unless I put gas into fuel tank. Is it a fuel filter issue. or?

Just a question. Do you run your car on empty. If so that could be your problem with an empty tank you are sucking all the dirt through the filter and making it plug up. It is better to keep your tank above half full and does not cost any more than to run on empty. All mechanics will tell you to always keep your tank above half full.

2001 ford expedition recently had new rotors & brakes replaced. It was making a clicking noise before & after news parts. The noise gotten worse. Do you have a diagram of what I am to look for? Plz

I am guessing that you are speaking of a noise in the front and this is a 4x4? If so, then you are most likely looking for a bad cv joint. We really need more information though.

I have 2002 Ford Expedition

For each code there is a diagnostic testing procedure . Without doing the testing we would only be guessing as to the problem . Sounds like you know next to nothing about automobile engine management systems . Your best bet ,take it to a qualified repair shop . P0443 - EVAP Control System Canister Purge Valve Circuit Malfunction The PCM monitors the state of the EVAP canister purge valve circuit output driver. The test fails when the signal moves outside the minimum or maximum limit for the commanded state.
  • VPWR circuit open
  • EVAP canister purge valve circuit shorted to GND
  • Damaged EVAP canister purge valve
  • EVAP canister purge valve circuit open
  • EVAP canister purge valve circuit shorted to VPWR
  • Damaged PCM
To verify normal function, monitor the EVAP canister purge valve signal PID EVAPPDC (or EVMV for electronic valve) and the signal voltage (PCM control side). With the valve closed, EVAPPDC will indicate 0 percent duty cycle (0 mA for EVMV) and the voltage approximately equal to battery voltage. When the valve is commanded fully open, EVAPPDC will indicate 100 percent duty cycle (1000mA for EVMV) and a voltage drop of 3 volts minimum is normal. Output test mode may be used to switch output ON/OFF to verify function. P0135 - HO2S Sensor Circuit Malfunction (HO2S-11) During testing the HO2S Heaters are checked for opens/shorts and excessive current draw. The test fails when current draw exceeds a calibrated limit and/or an open or short is detected.
  • Short to VPWR in harness or HO2S.
  • Water in harness connector.
  • Open VPWR circuit.
  • Open GND circuit.
  • Low battery voltage.
  • Corrosion or poor mating terminals and wiring
  • Damaged HO2S heater.
  • Damaged PCM.
  • Wiring.
  • Damaged HO2S heater.
  • Damaged PCM.
P0155 - HO2S Sensor Circuit Malfunction (HO2S-21) See DTC P0135 P0755 * SSB, wiring, PCM SSB solenoid circuit failure SSB circuit fails to provide voltage drop across solenoid. Circuit open or shorted or PCM driver failure during on-board diagnostic. Incorrect gear selection depending on condition mode and manual lever position. See Solenoid On/Off Chart. Go To Pinpoint Test A . P1747 * EPC, wiring, PCM EPC solenoid circuit failure, shorted circuit or output driver Voltage through EPC solenoid is checked. An error will be noted if tolerance is exceeded. Short circuit causes minimum EPC pressure (minimum capacity) and limits engine torque (alternate firm). Go To Pinpoint Test D . P1401 - DPF EGR Sensor Circuit High Voltage Detected The EGR monitor checks the DPF EGR sensor signal to the PCM for high voltage. The test fails when the average voltage to the PCM goes to a voltage greater than the maximum calibrated value.
  • DPF EGR circuit open
  • VREF short to PWR
  • Damaged DPF EGR sensor
  • DPFEGR circuit short to PWR
  • SIG RTN circuit open
  • Damaged PCM
A DPF EGR PID reading greater than 4.5 volts with the key ON and engine OFF or running, indicates a hard fault. P1451 - EVAP Control System Canister Vent Solenoid Circuit Malfunction Monitors the canister vent (CV) solenoid circuit for an electrical failure. The test fails when the signal moves outside the minimum or maximum allowable calibrated parameters for a specified canister vent duty cycle by PCM command.
  • VPWR circuit open
  • CV solenoid circuit shorted to PWR GND or CHASSIS GND
  • Damaged CV solenoid
  • CV solenoid circuit open
  • CV solenoid circuit shorted to VPWR
  • Damaged PCM
To verify normal function, monitor the EVAP canister vent solenoid signal PID EVAPCV and the signal voltage (PCM control side). With the valve open, EVAPCV will indicate 0 percent duty cycle and the voltage approximately equal to battery voltage. When the valve is commanded fully closed, EVAPCV will indicate 100% duty cycle and a voltage drop of 4 volts minimum is normal. Output test mode may be used to switch output ON/OFF to verify function. Look's like you have multiple problems an to say what the problem could be would be guessing . Your best bet ,take it to a qualified repair shop .
