Why won't it go in reverse?
The Ford has some links to VW systems, like the Galaxy is the same as the VW Sharan. This particular VW I have quoted will not go into reverse if the reversing/backup light is faulty. Check that by checking the bulbs, fuse and switch.

Ifull the tank in the radiator but it will disaper but no leaking in the hose what would i do
If you are losing coolant then you have either an external or internal leak.If you can find no indication of an external leak from the radiator, the radiator overflow tank, any of the hoses on the system or around the water pump fitting then you may well have an internal leak. Check the radiator overflow tank carefully and the hoses to it for any signs of external leakage. An internal leak of coolant can be via a failed cylinder head gasket or a crack in the cylinder head or both. Coolant can then leak under pressure into the cylinders or into the engine's lubrication system and will then mix with the oil. Check the condition and colour of your oil for evidence of coolant contamination. Check your exhaust for a constant flow of white exhaust emissions which is evidence of coolant entering the combustion chamber. If you have run the vehicle with the engine overheating this will generally cause failure of the cylinder head gasket and possibly a crack in the cylinder head.
HOW TO OPEN THE GAS TANK ON A 2001 FORD ESCAPE!
while someone is activating the release lever/button, gently pry the cover open
The problem will be a broken spring at the hinge of the cover that flips the cover open when operated
springs are readily available fro ford spares
Diagnostics trouble Code P0172
code p 0172 refers to system too rich, bank 1===causes ---intake blocked , EVAP canister purge valve , fuel pressure ---EGR system---injector/s--HO2s sensor ( heated oxygen sensor in the manifold / before the cat converter of bank 1 )
eliminate blocked intake or both banks would be rich
EVAP purge valve will be giving definite other symptoms --difficulty filling, poor running after filling-- consider it after the rest
EGR will be giving codes for both banks as it feeds back into the inlet manifold---possible but save your money till last
injector --could be a leaking /faulty tip or seal at base of injector
HO2S most likely as it is affected by heat and the wires do break
First port of call
fuel pressure would affect both banks -- would not hurt to have it checked at some time
So if you are doing it yourself , I suggest the oxygen sensor first , followed by the injector/s, followed by fuel pressure ,followed by EVAP then the EGR valve
