I recently tried the DIY service and repair manuals from a website and it actually helped me repair transmission problem in my jcb 3cx site-master. It would'nt move forward or reverse, engine was good both solenoids for forward and reverse worked, but still couldn't diagnose the problem. Are the spark plugs still in the engine? If so, the resistance you may be feeling is the compression stroke.

You may need to replace the ECM

Most likely causes are bad engine coolant temp sensor OR leaking fuel injectors. Bad engine coolant temp sensor will give computer false reading and computer provides wrong air fuel mixture. Leaking fuel injectors will load the engine with raw gas--just like flooding it. Try pushing the gas pedal to the floor and holding it there when cranking when hot. That forces the computer into "clear flood" mode and it shuts off the injectors. If it starts up with pedal down, that would be a sign of leaking injectors.

The fact that this issue began after you changed the air filter and that it idles higher than it used to sounds like you accidentally knocked off a vacuum line while changing the filter. Look around for any hoses or small rubber lines and connectors that are no longer attached.

If you are mechanically inclined, begin by removing head light switch and disconnect the harness. This should turn lights off, is it does, you might have a bad switch or a shorted/grounded wire from switch to dashboard.

If a repair shop can't diagnose this I almost certainly can't over this keyboard. There is basic testing that must be done and fault codes that may be present, you give to little info on the problem and what the shop has tried to fix it to be of any useful help.. In this make and model the Instrument cluster is actually a computer, the gauge displays are generated by the internal computer based on the engine sensors and other sensor inputs. It can be tested with a special diagnostic scanner, the dealer is the best bet for this, but you can be almost sure it will need to be removed and repaired.

These are controlled by a BCM, it needs to be scanned with a special tool to she what is going on.

Replace the switch on the steering Colum it has gone bad not a big deal to change.
