Make sure the battery has a full charge.
Are you missing anything besides fuel? Engine cranking visually check for spark at the spark plugs. Also, check for fuel injector pulse. If your missing everything, check for an rpm signal.
With the spider fuel system, start-up fuel pressure can be critical, around 60--66 psi. At the fuel pump connector, engine cranking, gray wire is voltage, black is ground. If good voltage and ground with no fuel pump action, have to suspect the fuel pump.
Code p0179 came up is this something to worry about
You would need to look up the code for your specific vehicle, but generally its a fuel mixture problem.
The 170 codes are for the O2 sensor reading too lean or too rich. Sometimes the sensor is the problem, and sometimes the mixture really is out of normal range.
The main result can be loss of power or excessive emissions going out the tailpipe.
Locating fuel pressure regulator
Fuel Pressure Regulator
Removal & Installation
2.2L Engine
To Remove:
- Relieve the pressure in the fuel system.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Disconnect the vacuum hose from the fuel pressure regulator.
- Remove the pressure regulator mounting screw.
- Remove the fuel pressure regulator assembly with O-ring. Inspect filter screen for contamination. If contaminated, remove and discard.
Fuel pressure regulator removal/installation (2.2L SFI engine)
To Install:
- Apply clean engine oil to the new pressure regulator O-ring and install the O-ring on the regulator.
- Install the regulator on the fuel rail. Apply thread-locker to the mounting screw.
- Tighten the screw to 106 lb in (12Nm).
- Connect the negative battery cable.
- Use the following procedure to pressurize the fuel system and check for leaks;
- Turn the ignition ON for 2 seconds.
- Turn the ignition OFF for 10 seconds.
- Turn the ignition switch back ON to run the fuel pump again and pressurize the fuel system.
- Check the fuel rail assembly for fuel leaks.

Unable to put gas in at at gas pump
SOUND LIKE EVAP SYSTEM FAILURE.CAUSING EXCESSIVE FUEL PRESSURE VAPORS BUILT UP IN FUEL TANK.TAKE IT TO DEALERSHIP THEY HAVE TO USE DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT TO FIX.THIS IS A LITTLE TRICK TO GET GAS IN TANK BACK OUT SPOUT A LITTLE NOT MUCH TO LET VAPORS ESCAPE WHILE YOU PUMPING GAS.YOU NEED TO FIX.FUEL PRESSURE VAPORS WILL BUILD UP ENOUGH TO BLOW UP FUEL TANK ESPECIALLY ON HOT DAYS.
