The positive port has a black piece that looks like somethng electrical. Anything i need to know about removing this when i change my battery? Any other things i should know about removing and replacign the battery?
Thanks in advance!
Tom
Hello,
There's nothing special to watch for, just don't damage anything physically. What you need to do is only to unscrew everything, replace the battery and screw it all back as it was. Maybe only to watch that you don't unscrew some parts all the way, only as much as you need to release it, so you don't loose the screws. Believe me I know - I work in a factory that produces the whole electrical system for BMW 3 Series ;)
Anyway, here I found a detailed instruction with pictures:

the window droped into the rear door panel of a 2004 bmw x3. How do I repair it?
the window regulator has failed. the door panel has to be removed first which requires removing the trim piece that is on the grab handle (extremely hard to remove without breaking) there are three of four screws that hold the door panel on. once the door panel is off, the vapor barrier has to be removed. don't tear it, it is there for a reason to keep water out of the vehicle. make sure you reseal it properly with window weld. once the vapor barrier is removed you will need to unclip the window glass from the regulator. i typically will take and break the tab that holds the window. once the window is loose, move the glass all the way to the top of the door. now remove the regulator, swap the motor over, and reassembly. i would recommend taking the vehicle to a bmw dealership, around $650 for the complete repair and the dealership will stand behind their repairs

l own a 2005 BMW X 3 2.0d fitted with a PANORAMIC SUN ROOF. May anyone assist me with the step by step intructions on how to intialize the opening and closing of the sunroof.
I have had my X3 for over 3 years, it was registered in Dec 2004. We have used the sunroof fairly frequently in this time and had no problems. I recently went to close the sunroof and the back panel did not close fully on the passenger side. I took it into my local BMW dealer expecting them to diagnose some electrical fault or new motor required. They have now informed me that the whole unit needs changing, the unit price for a panoramic sun-roof is approx GBP 2800! I am in shock! Unfortunately we did not take out extended warrantly cover.
Considering that the car is approximately 4years and 5months old I really feel that this kind of fault should not be presenting in a car of this age and mileage (approx 55K).
I would like to seek advice from anyone who has suffered from a major fault with their BMW and course of action taken to resolve it.
Has anyone been through a complaints procedure with BMW for a car of this age?
Any advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
I just had the same problem... the rear glass has 2 suports, which you will need to insert a long screw driver in it and force them back manually... It's a pain, but I can get you all the pictures to this procedure...

Does anyone know how to disable the passenger Airbag in the BMW E46 2004 320D so I can put my 4Yr old's Child Seat in the Front?
deactivation on airbags can only be done at the dealer on request where a key system will be in stall for you to deactivate when ever

I need a fuse box diagram for a 2004 BMW 325ci
Fuses & RelaysThe fuse box is located under the engine hood on the left side, near the upper strut housing or near the battery.
Various relays are also mounted on the fuse box for easy accessibility.
Flashers
The flashers are located behind the bottom center of the lower instrument trim panel.
Review the...
- BMW E36 Fuse Box Relay Layout
- 325ci Owners Manual
Hope helped.

what kind of coolant do I use in my 2004 bmw 325?
It should tell you right on the reservoir cap whether you need dexcool, G12 (which is specific for many German cars), or if the standard green coolant is OK. Use of the wrong type can cause problems - take a look at the fill cap and see if it instructs you there (it usually will).

central locking in my bmw 320 diesel isnt working it wont open the doors but it will start the engine , the spare key is the same so its not the battery of the keys
Providing central locking works when you insert key in lock, try programming keys
Enter car make sure all doors/windows are shut
Switch ignition on and off, remove key
PRESS AND HOLD UNLOCK BUTTON ON KEY
Press lock button on key 3 times whithin 10 seconds and release unlock
Central locking will lock/unlock rapidly to confirm reset
If your key is the type with bmw logo in the middle battery replacement is not possible,as it charges as you drive

dsc warning light on , bmw e46
Dynamic Stability Control....a derivitave of ABS / Traction control. The control unit that monitors the dynamics will most likely be sensing a difference in the measured wheel speeds. Possibly defective ABS sensor, wiring, ABS exciter ring, ABS module or steering angle sensor. Can also be triggered by wheel spin.
Have a diagnostic scan done ( cost £30 - £50 approx at good local garage) to read the fault codes first. If you get a fault code relating to "ABS module pressure sensor" the module requires replacement (common issue). Used to be a £1400 job, but repair kit now available from dealer for £180 ish and 2 hours to fit.
