you need to replace the whole OBC/clock unit. Don't go to ebay. I just checked them out, they want $175+ for them. e-mail me at

How to dismantle door covers
First, remove the trim around the inside door handle. Simply push on the trim and slide back (twardthe rear of the car.
If you are removing the driver's side panel you must remove the sideview mirror adjustment panel. Simply pry this up with a screwdriver and pull to disconnect. In that hole you will see a phillips screw. Remove that screw.
There are about 7 pins on the back of the door panel lining the bottom and sides. Take a flathead screwdriver wrap the tip in tape or with a piece of cloth so you dont scratch the little bit of paint that you see, and starting from either corner insert the screwdriver behind the door panel. Pry one of the pins out, then move on to the next. Get the screwdriver as close to the pins as possible to avoid warping the door panel. Get a few new pins from the dealership (roughly 50 cents each) because it is normal to break a few. They are just plastic.
After removing all of them from the door, simply lift up on the door panel to finish the job.
Car will not start from
Are you trying to use your spare key to start? BMW keys have transponders in the keys which allows it to start. Its basiclly just another security system to be sure no body is poping your ignition or anything like that. I wish I knew how to tell you how to tell if your transponder in your key is working, or the transponder unit in your car is working, but I can't. Your best bet is to call the dealership to check on that.
I have to crank my
I'm not sure about your car but many have a check valve in the gasoline line that prevents fuel from being sucked back into the tank when the air (and car) cools down. The check valve may have failed a little, allowing fuel to creep past.
This creates the problem you have with starting since you have to wait for fuel to fill the line and build pressure again.
If you are adventurous, you could disconnect the fuel line under the hood when the car has been off overnight and then briefly have someone turn the key to see if you have an instant, solid stream of fuel coining out of the line.
If it takes some seconds, then the line was empty.
After the car has been driven, the fuel just takes time to be sucked back to the tank.
How can I get the HDC to turn off in my 2002 bmw x5?
To turn off HDC on a BMW, all you have to do is press the HDC button located on the center console. The button will have an image of a vehicle going downhill with a speedometer above it, and you'll know it's off if there are no lights illuminated above it. If you ever want to turn the system on again, just press the button again.

2003 BMW X5 4.4 no crank no start
Check the basics first. Is battery fully charged? This is the most common reason for a no crank, no start. What exactly does it do when you turn the key? Nothing at all, no lights, no 'click' as you turn the key. A slow lazy crank?
