UNABLE TO UNLOCK STEERING WHEEL
Grasp the steering wheel firmly with one hand and turn the wheel towards the direction the front wheels are facing. The wheel will be hard to turn but you will by trying to relieve pressure from the lock. While holding the wheel off the lock turn the ignition key. It should turn easily as long as you are holding tension on the steering wheel.

My 2000 Z3 BMW smells
Check the exhaust side of your valve cover gasket for evidence of an oil leak. Burning synthetic oil tends to smell like hot plastic.

I have a 2000 BMW
Hi,
I think that if the battery went completely flat the vehicle may have lost the security code, or the same can have happened if you did not follow the boost charge instructions when starting. If that has happened you'll need to have the unit re-encoded by a dealer. Keep in mind that starting a vehicle periodically is good but if you don't run it as well the battery will become exhausted and finally fail. The start up of any engine drains more power from the battery than any other operation. You need to start it and give it a run.
