First, replace the radiator or expansion tank cap. Also excessive steam and the smell of burnt anti-freeze are a sign of a blown head gasket, as is water in the crank case.

My brakes on my 2000 528 are freezing-up. I know I need new pads and rotors to the rear. Thought I was putting fluid in k it is the brake res. but I think it is the ATF res. Please help

As you apply the brakes the rotar and the pads wear down and your flued level goes down also, if you keep going the pads will drop out and the rotar will also get thiner the pads will actually fall out and you will have no brakes at all, so it is advisable to replace the pads it will cost you less money in the long run.

Alot blue smog coming out from the exhust

Blue indicates a lot of engine oil is being burned, black would mean too much fuel, and white would mean excess water/coolant. Being as it's blue, it could be any one of a number of things, all internal in the engine. Could be bad oil rings, valve guides, stem seals, etc. I suggest an engine shop to properly determine the cause. Might just be a plugged pcv system that just needs cleaning, you never can tell from the outside. Is there a lot of oil in the air cleaner assembly? If with the engine running, you carefully remove the oil fill cap, is there a lot of pressure/gasses escaping? There shouldn't be.

A 2000 BMW 528i,the battery is being drain while car is on.the alternator and battery has been tested, both are good, what can cause the battery from not being charge or drained?

Check the current draw when the car is switched off. if it is not obvious whet is staying on, remove fuses one buy one and see when the current draw goes down. Note that the car does not go to "sleep" until something like 16 minutes after you turn off the engine.

2000 bmw x5 nav screen blank. radio works but no

I know this is an old thread, but my 2006 325i Nav screen went bank also, but the radio still played. I noticed the glove box light and trunk light did not turn on also. I was told from mechanics is was probably a CID module for $2200, even though I mentioned the glove box and trunk light light were out and specifically inquired about a fuse. The mechanics never checked the fuses, because I checked my fuses in the glove box and found the fuse 61 marked with a BMW symbol that looks like light bulb was blown. The Nav screen started back up once the fuse was changed.

Eml light staying on

Hello and welcome to FixYa!
As a first course of action, I strongly suggest that you remove the positive battery connector and let it sit for atleast 5mins. before reconnecting. This will reset the system and may get rid off the light.
If problem still persists, I suggest that you have it resetted by a scan tool manually.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!
