Sorry jeff , but without testing have no clue what's wrong , don't know what your knowledge of automotive electronic systems are , an believe me , BMW has a lot . Plus without proper tools ,your best just to take it to BMW dealer where your at . Do you know how to test for spark to the spark plus , how to test fuel pressure etc... Do yourself a favor an have it towed to a qualified repair shop.

Saw this once before..Could not believe it but it was the battery. Crazy thing happen when the battery is low.

Not sure on this one.....if it's "drive by wire" that means the accelerator pedal is connected to the intake electronically, and that may be where the A9 code comes from. Saturns are drive by wire and it's a common failure point for them. spark, compression and gas is all you need for the engine to run. you can put a fuel pressure gauge on the rail to determine fuel, assume that the compression is good, and pull a spark plug and ground it while cranking to see if gets a spark...

an engine needs fuel, compression, and spark to go....check those things first. Put a fuel pressure gauge on the rail, then remove a plug and ground it to see if it sparks, lastly, run a compression check on it. make sure the cam is turning as well.

it is reporting of a problem in the transmission that needs attention. run the fault codes and have the transmission serviced asap.

A code with P1XXX is brand specific so check out this web site: http://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/ this should tell you some possible reasons why you have pulled this code for your brand of vehicle.

Most likely your timing belt gave way causing your valves and pistons to hit each other. Its time for a new engine.

clogged catalytic converter

that means your compression rings are gone

replace the starter and the flywheel-the bad starter has not engaged the teeth on the flywheel fully and has ground some teeth off so you'll fit that space every once in a while-cheers Denny

The problem sounds like the battery has run down. Even though the ignition is off, things like clocks and the radio draw small amounts of power to retain their settings, and the instrument cluster doesn't draw as much power as the starter. It usually takes about a month or so to drain the battery. Try jump starting the car, or put it on a battery charger for a while.
