Hi and welcome to FixYa!

The door has window guides. If the rubber guides are worn out they tend to get thicker which may cause the windows to stop in a certain point. One good reason why it stops with a half inch space.
Have the rubber guides replaced and you'll be good.

Hope you find this information helpful enough and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

My bmw 316i 1996 2door has accelaeration problems.

Hi

I am assuming your old air flow pipe was ripped ? If that was the case it can often damage the air mass sensor / meter, they are quite delicate on these cars. the other alternative would be the throttle control module although these raely go, do all the air pipes have a good tight seal around them? any air leaks will cause the car to be sluggish.

Hope this helps, as regard to the clocks not showing mileage is the back light lit up?

I have no heat, nor do my gas gage work.

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

You may have a faulty heater core that's why you have no heat. Have it replaced. Regarding your fuel gauge, it can be just a fuse issue. Please check if the fuse or blown. If not, then the problem will be on the fuel float. Have it replaced if it's faulty.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!

What makes your car loose

To check for a drain disconnect the negative at the battery, Connect a test light to the neg battery and the other end to the neg wire. If the light comes on some thing is pulling power.(make sure the doors are closed and everything is turned off. Pull fuses out one at a time and put them back in place before moving to the next one. Watch the light to see if it changes or goes out. If it goes out you found the problem circuit. Some things are are hooked up to the battery full time so a very faint light is normal when testing.(also have seen power window motors fill up with water and cause this problem)

My battery had to be

When you take the battery cables loose from an anti-theft system, You would place a nine volt (9V) battery across the positive and negative cables to hold the memory chip in the systems. This allows you to remove the battery for a period of time longer than a few minutes. The system (anti-theft) is designed with a couple of capacitors in the system that hold the charge for a few minutes to allow changing of the battery. If the battery is removed for much longer than 30 minutes then the capacitors drain and the memory is lost in the chips.

You are going to have to go to the BMW dealer and have them re-write your system, and it will cost you about a hundred bucks. They have the plug in device that will restore the system and it is not sold to the general public. That is why it is called ant-theft, so if someone steals your radio it quits working.

How do i refill transmission

There is no (tube), like in most cars. You have to go underneath the car & remove a plug, (similar to the engine oil drain plug... except on the side of the transmission pan). It is quite difficult to fill & there is no dipstick. Just use your finger to feel the level. It should be filled up the the level of the plug. Make sure your replace the O-ring.
