Another possible cause is your coolant sensor. if the sensor goes bad, it will drip coolant but won't notice it because it just seeps down the engine components. Most people don't even realize that there is such a sensor. it will send a faulty reading that its overheating when the coolant level is fine and when enough coolant does seep out it will still say its overheating because it is at that point. I would definitely look into checking your coolant sensor as the cause since it's so hard to even see that it is leaking and its super easy to take out and replace. hope that helps if you're still having problems

My 2006 Pontiac Torrent cooling system was flushed. Then later experienced overheating and loss of heat. Heater hoses found leaking were replaced. Problem recurred. Cap was replaced and pressure is good. Thermostat was replaced but probelm persisted. Water pump was pulled but found to be normal. Coolant tested for hydrocarbons found normal and no compression loss. Heater core was bypassed and problem is even worse overheating in low rpms mostly but sometimes in higher. Eratic loss of heat. Heat was greatly improved after thermostat replacement initially but recurrence of problems occured within 25 miles of driving.
Even if there were no hydrocarbons detected I am almost positive you have a bad head gasket.Usually the back head on the number one cylinder.Almost all the ones I have done with this exact problem has been the rear head and the number 1 cylinder.Hair line crack between the cylinder and water jacket.I always replace both head gaskets.Hope this helps.Good luck.

I have a 2006 Pontiac Torrent with the factory radio. The radio itself has a button for "AUX" but I cannot find the auxillary jack. Can anyone tell me where the jack would be, or if there is not one, why the radio button has an AUX option? thanx
I was wandering the same thing, but another option is a AM/FM Transmitter. you can buy one at stores like best buy. You plug your Music Device (iPhone, iPod..etc.) into it and it transmits it to a AM or FM band so you can tune into it with the AM/FM function and listen to your music so you dont hvae to buy a new radio.

put in new ignition system from a junk yard now car wont start need to reset anti theft shystem

all temperature readings are good, air conditioning works properly, and the cooling system has been flushed.
heater core could be out . is you thermostat in still?? and when turning the heater on is the car already warmed up??

I see the two bolts i need to remove, but it looks like I have to remove an exhaust pipe that runs against the thermostat...Im not sure how to do that....Iam not overheating, but new engine light code says that thermostat or cooling system not heating up to correct temps...LOW Temperature....
if your motor is the 3.4 then you dont have to worry bout the exst pipe since the thermostat housing has a slotted hole were the pipe is, but beware that those two 10mm bolts are somtimz very tight so youll probly need little extra leverage, otherwise its simple
