The boot lid will close
Looks like the motor / actuator is not working.
It could be weather related as its very cold. it may be water contaminated and frozen the mechanism.

I am getting no sound from the audio system on my
Late to the party but, try pulling the fuse, number 6 or 7 I believe but check, from the box under the glove box. Leave out for a few minutes and try again.
if not, check all contacts of modules in the boot cubby hole and check for water ingress.
can get a little more involved if you have the dsp.

You have to put compressed air into the cyl to hold the valves up (tool goes in place of spark plug)remove rocker cover ,remove cam, belt or chain !Put engine on TDC and mark valve timing dot,s on cam wheels so it goes back together the same , replace the seals one cyl. at a time,white out makes a good marker fo cam marks.

There is not a reset for the air bag light. You will need to repair the system before the light will go out and the system will once again arm.

check the owner operater manuel , if a what frequency that lite is supposed to come on at could be you need to change the setting. if so those instuctions shoul be in that manuel

How to remove the harmonic balancer on a 2005 x5 4.4l
If you are removing the harmonic balancer for repairs, you will need to remove the engine and use a harmonic balancer bolt puller.
Do not try to remove this and run the engine. This will cause crankshaft failure due to the engine vibrations caused by the firing cylinders.

Fail safe mode came on what can we do
when a car goes into fail safe or limp mode it is caused by an inportaint sensor the car needs to either run the motor or shift the trans..ikt then runs or operates on the driving info that the ecu has stored to be able to get it home or to a shop..youj will need to have a diagnostics ran on it and have the cars computer read to retrieve the code to idenify the problem and once the problem componet is replaced the car will automaticly return to normal operation
