How do your repair the heater in 1998 olds

Sounds like the heater control unit is going bad. I believe this unit has a digital/vacuum control unit which explains why you are only getting hot out of one vent. Try the salvage yard or ebay for a replacement unit. They are non-repairable...

Car dies and it shiftsin to gear really hard

Sounds like you have a severe vacuum leak. Poor vacuum will cause the trans to shift hard, very hard, and will also cause driveability concerns. Check all of your vacuum lines make sure they are intact, and not broken or leaking, and replace any that look questionable.

Broken belt tensioner. How to replace?

HI begin by disconnecting battery , remove alternator then remove the two heater hoses attach to tensioner bracket by removing the to front screws, you will lose coolant so put a pan on the bottom .Then remove bolts attached to tensioner bracket.it will require a little force to pull out yest make sure you got all the bolts out before applying force. Here is a picture tensioner and bracket assembly so you can see what bolts to remove. let me know how it turns out it is not so bad to do5e1c732.jpg

My 1998 oldsmobile regency only goes 105 mph

is that a problem? I believe that is the top speed until the ecm cuts fuel to the engine. mainly because of the speed rating of the tires.

It doesn't go into gear, when I put it in reverse

check your fluid level..(transmission), nothing will work if the fluid is too low....if that's ok, then the linkages might be off alignment, also there is a vacuum controlled valve that is mounted outside the transmission casing on the transmission that controls your shifting as well....(modulator valve) if the vauum is missing, this will also give you trouble....you might have a broken or clogged vacuum line, a bad modulator valve..etc...., but first check your fluid level...that's most likely causing your problem
good luck

Sticky deceleration.

get a can of carberator cleaner, and a bottle of white lithium grease, the spray kind,

spray the throttle springs really good with the cleaner, let it dry, and spray the lithium grease on it, and work the throttle back and forth, this should solve your problem.

1988 Oldsmobile 98 Regency Brougham. I have switched over to R134a and would like to how much Freon will I need?

It is a mute point because you can't do this yourself. Your system has air in it plus moisture. All that need sucking out with a refrigerant gas recovery machine to create a very strong vacuum, then the system is checked for leaks. Only then is the refrigerant gas installed by weight. Freon is the brand name for a gas that is no longer used. There is a sticker in the engine bay that tells you the weight of gas and the amount of oil. This explains, take it to a shop that does AC. https://www.fixya.com/cars/r29878326-recharging_vehicle_air_conditioner ..

Blower shuts off after 20sec in 93 regency auto climate. Replaced blower motor. No change.

The blower resistor may be going bad and need replacing. Does it do it only on one or any fan speed? I'm not sure where that particular part is located for it has been number of years I have looked at vehicles older than 18 yrs. but I hope this steers you in the right direction.
