Evap fuel tank pressure sensor 2002 nissan xterra location
Evap. Canister - It looks like some kind of BLACK filter box and can be located under the car perhaps around the Gas tank area) or under the Hood area . It may be about 14 inches long x 8 inches wide and 5 inches thick.
The solenoid sensor on this canister can go bad causing an EVAP code on an OBD reader.

I changed the valve covers on an 02 nissan
Trial and error won't reset the basic timing, merely cause more frustration and delay and could damage the oxygen sensor and CAT in addition.
An engine with too much unburned fuel inside is likely to give up all efforts at starting and once you have set the timing you might need to do considerable cranking with the throttle wide open and the fuel pump disconnected before it does start.
An experienced mechanic could probably figure out the timing close enough to run reasonably but for accuracy the repair manual will provide the proper procedure.

A friend of my son's hooked the jumper cables up
This fuse is attached to the fuse box by screws which may be under the fuse box. 100 amp automobile fuses are always fastened in by screws and do not just push in/pull out like lower amp fuses.
Hope this helps.

My truck died
first , have the fault codes read as that will give you an indication of the problem area
taking that it is automatic, the engine revving before stopping indicates that the torque converter clutch servo/solenoid has failed
that could be from TCM or wiring problems
stopping the engine may be from over rpm control
the fault codes should give a better idea
At this point it seems like electronic control even to the point of the ECM failing
