cheapest easiest way possible please preferably free??? It's not that simple, you won't be able to do anything. And how do you know it's the anti-theft (immobilizer)? Do you own a professional grade or factory scan tool to read DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes in all the modules on the vehicle?
Plus, won't start how? Turn the key to start an nothing happens? Do you have one or two keys ? Try them both. At best you need to have keys programmed .Mobile locksmith or dealer. No way around it.
If you are sure it is the key and immobilizer

Just bought a 2008 Mercury
The owner's manual has some information on this regarding
key programing and such. Did you buy a new key bob? Call
your dealer's service dept. some will tell you how or do it for
free especially if you buy the key bob from them.
Had the oil changed 2008 Milan 3.0v6 and now Warning lights are on. ABS light, red Brake light, traction control, and the wrench. What did this shop do ?Maint. has been reset.
Whatever they did it shouldn't be your problem - you paid somebody money to do a job and they created a load of trouble, perhaps by corrupting the software while they were resetting your maintenance interval.
You need to get the car back to them pronto and tell them to fix it free of charge and if it going to take more than a couple of hours they should loan you a car.
It is just a guess but it could be instead of using a dedicated tool to reset the maintenance interval they used a laptop loaded with lots of bidirectional software and pressed the wrong buttons, maybe the guy who did it was inexperienced.
If this is the reason it could be a load of trouble to sort out and maybe they won't be up to the job but you have to give them a chance to rectify their mistake before going to the dealer or a specialist if you need to make a claim against them.
