Are you plugging into the obd2 diagnostics port under the dash or the diagnostics port under the hood? You should be plugged in under the dash to read codes for the MIL / ABS light. Just a heads up as well most scanners you can buy from the part stores do not have the necessary program protocols to read European cars.

Hello all, I've bought a 57 reg V70 that has a

first thing to come to mind is a wheel bearing, being a noise that 'rumbles'-jacking it up, one wheel at a time and turning by hand might reveal which wheel is making the noise. Does the noise 'change' with speed, or braking? Noises are tough over the internet, but your description leads me to think they need to be checked first.

Probably dirty or loose battery cable connections or loose fround wire. Take the battery cables off, clean them and tighten them. Check the negative cable ground, and the starter connections.

How to change bulb in headligth of volvo v70

For the RH headlight, First remove the top cover of the ECU module just behind the headlight. Then remove the middle section leaving the ECU in place. Both parts are just clipped in so should come out fairly easily. You will then be able to get access the the headlight bulb, release the spring clip at the top (using a mirror helps) and the bulb should come out.
For the LH side remove the air filter housing.

Engine Idle speed

Yes that is most likely normal for your car. But there you could be other factors playing into the potential high idle, for example if your timing is off the computer could be compensating by advancing spark. When was your last tune up done?

Alarm sounds everytime key removed from ignition?

There is a switch either in or on the driver door that turns on the interior lights and tells the module the door is open and the key is still in the ignition, this sounds the alarm, check all the doors and make sure they turn the interior lights on and off when the doors are opened and closed.

1998 volvo radio code tried the

Hopefully this get's to you before you lock it up. If it get's locked up, it will read off in the display of the radio.

If that happens, you will need to leave the car in position one till the radio reads enter code.

You have 3 tries to get the code right.

Obviously you don't have the right one.

Pull the gear selector back to the lowest setting, hit the two tabs that hold the radio in and when those pop out...pull the radio out enough to get the serial number and part number. (just copy the label exactly as it reads and that will help)

Head over to your Volvo dealership and talk to the parts department, they should be able to get you the right radio code at no charge.

Diff shutter

Possible that your axle(s) are worn and have excessive play. I've seen it quite a few times.

Is it on acceleration or when you brake?

If it is when you brake, it is also possible that your rotors may be warped.

The alarm keeps going off

Most likely it is your siren module located in the right fender well behind the liner.

You'd have to remove the front wheel, remove the screws for the liner and pull that back, the module sits right above it in the fender area and it is held in with one sheer bolt that you'd either have to drill out or use a dremel to slice a slot into it to get a screwdriver to remove it.
