this problem is caused by internal fluid pressure loss, this is due to seal leaks within the transmission as seals age the heat makes them hard and they loose there ability to seal, in order to correct this the transmission must be resealed, since this repair requires the transmission to be completely torn down and a seal kit installed, at this point the transmission should be just overhauled or replaced with a factory rebuilt unit, the advantage to this is that a factory rebuilt unit has all the latest parts, transmissions are constantly improved, and whenever they re-manufacturer a trans thye use all the latest parts, the advantage is a better opersting and longer lasting transmission, there is one thing u can try before going to the large expense of a re-manufactured trans, that is a complete fluid exchange, this may soften up the hardened seals and restore proper operation for a limited time, it is worth a try, a trans flush can be done for about $100.00 or less if you shop around, price's vary greatly, dealers charge upwards of $200, some oil change centers charge less than $80.00, oil change center are the ones to call, the competition is greatest with them and the price the lowest in most cases.
