I replaced my head gasket on my 2000 528i BMW. Now

Good evening Daniel,
Congrats on replacing the head gasket successfully! In regards to your secondary air system. I would first start with the electrical air pump supply located on the passengers side of the engine compartment. You can locate the supply hose (about 1 1/2 inch diameter) at the front of the exhaust manifold. The hose connects to the secondary air valve. Make sure the hose is connected. Also make sure if there is a vacuum supply line to the secondary air valve, that it is not broken/or disconnected. If the hoses are ok and secure, then remove the larger supply hose from the valve when the engine has not been started for 4-5 hrs and make sure you have air flow from the air pump. The pump should be audible and operate for approximately 30seconds to a minute. If you are still having issues after these checks, I can list other possible causes.

Its a 1998 528i bmw

The fact that you have a backfire noise that you can trace to just one cylinder makes it sound like a spark plug could be loose or broken. Pull out your spark plugs and examine them. On a '98, that eill mean pulling off the plastic cover, then removing the coils (need a 10mm socket, be careful with the ground wires) and then reach down in with a small spark plug socket on a long extension.
Also, look for a massive air leak on the intake. Take apart the air tubes from the air filter up to the throttle body looking for air leaks. You could also have a leak at the intake manifold gasket but you may need help to check for that.

has it been run hot lately?do you have water or coolant in your oil? pull the engine dipstick to see. do you have oil in the radiator? do you see coolant coming from the exhaust? these are all signs of blown head gasket. unexplained useage of coolant with no apparent signs of leakage usually means that coolants going trough the engine and out the exhaust system.smell bad when idleing in enclosed space? unexplained smoke coming from tailpipe when weathers warm? water residue dripping from tailpipe after the engines warm? i've given you most of the signs of a blown head gasket, which is what you requested, using alot of water with no sign of leakage. if no water in the oil,no oil in the water, then the leaks into the exhaust and out the tail pipe. you can do this, remove the ant-freeze from engine, then apply nanno technology[auto zone] water only added to engine. follow directions on 1quart bottle. this has worked for me several times.[for blown head gaskets that leak into exhaust] it's new technology that's new to the automotive industry. 1 quart costs $20.00 considering how much it costs to replace a blown head gasket that's only leaking into the exhaust sysytem, that's worth a gamble l to me. i've seen it work myself.

Sticky gas pedal on a 2000 528i

You need to lube throttle cable in engine compartment at throttle body. Also check if it's kinked or binding but usually a good shot of carb cleaner will silver you sticking problem. If that doesn't solve it, spray carb cleaner into throttle body, might be gummed up. You'll need to disassemble air intake hose to do this.

Where is the battery location

It's not where you might think it is. The battery is actually in the trunk, mounted in a deep well covered by a lift-up panel. The 135i has run-flat tires, so there's no spare, jack or inflation kit. chances are if your gonna dissconect battery the anti theft system is gonna lock your radio where you need a code to unlock it and it will make your car need codes from dealer

Car does not start, it cranks but does not start?

A car that cranks over but doesn't start, in many cases will be due to a bad fuel pump, a broken timing belt, an inoperative cam sensor or crank sensor. Also this problems are related to faulty spark plug. Check the spark at spark plugs when you start the car. Do you notice any spark. Actually you should see. If in case there is no spark then it's a spark plug problem. Also the coil pack gives power to spark plug. So check the voltage at coil pack. It will show 12 volt.If there is no voltage noticed at coil pack then its faulty coil pack that has to be replaced. If all the possible options checked out ok then check the car starter. The starter gets power from battery to start the care. If the starter is faulty then it will not let the car to start. Also check and confirm that there is fuel in the car. If it very low fuel then in some cases this causes the problem. Also check and confirm that fuel pump is functioning properly and the fuel filter is not clogged. One of the easiest ways to check for a fuel pump related problem is to spray a little starting fluid into the air intake while trying to start the car. If the car starts momentarily, then there's a good chance the fuel pump is not working or the car is out of gas. You can also listen for the fuel pump's humming sound when the key is first turned on. Also if a inoperative fuel pump is suspected, a good technician will always check to verify there is power and ground being supplied to the pump, to eliminate the possibility of a bad relay or electrical issue. Fuel pressure can be checked with a pressure gage and if there is pressure, pulse can be checked at the fuel injectors in several ways including the most common, with the use of noid lights. If the injectors don't have pulse the engine won't start. ---------- This troubleshooting tips will help you to solve the problem.Thanks.Helpmech.
